If you'd really like, I'd suggest a blog created by Shanu, who's a young Muslim lady living in USA and there's another blog by a very nice moderate Muslim Araz Shirazi.
You'll find people who are level headed there and quite well educated.
There's Roshni, who's a good young Muslim for you to befriend.
I don't subscribe to Islam, myself; but I wouldn't want to misguide you.
