About 6 months ago, some tenants moved & left their cat behind. She was alone there for 3 weeks! We took her in...Now, some people across the street moved Tuesday & I just looked out to see the weather & their cat is in THEIR window. (the unit is padlocked from the outside) I already have 4 cats. Who do I call? The police? I have no idea who the landlord there is...

We had a neighbor move and leave their Rottie behind! I do not understand irresponsible pet ownership. I would no more consider leaving a pet behind than leaving a child, then again , some people are not responsible parents either.

Because more and more people are becoming more irresponsible and nobody is really doing anything about it. You should call the police, and at the same time call the humane society who will get in contact with the proper authorities for animal neglect, and hopefully something will happen to those people besides a $10 fine.

I can't understand the concept of leaving a pet behind. I don't think they loved their cats at all. I could never do that.

I brought my cat from Hawaii to North Carolina. He was my baby. There was no way I was leaving him behind.

I knew a couple of other people that had cats or dogs and gave them away before they left.

My baby traveled from coast to coast. He lived in Hawaii, California, North Carolina, Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma. It never even crossed my mind to leave him behind.
My husband was in the military is why we moved so much.

To me that would be like leaving my 5 year old son behind because it was too much of a pain to move him. But, to leave these poor cats behind without someone to care for them in unthinkable.

I'd call Humane Society or SPCA and tell them there are cats abandoned in a house. They should rescue them and hopefully let someone adopt them.

The people who left them should be charged with animal abuse.

I would call your local police and/ or your local SPCA. Either party can obtain/ will have legal authority to act on the scenario. I do not understand leaving a pet behind either. People have so many options today too. If nothing else, most shelters/ vets will take an "abandoned" animal anonymously.

Definitely call the police, especially if you don't see anyone coming and going. I moved for my job and had to leave my cats in my former home for a couple of months, but my dad went over to take care of them. If you don't see anyone, it's definitely considered animal cruelty. I can't understand someone just abandoning their pet, I guess they think cats are such independent animals they'll adapt. There's always the possibility also, that they took their pet with them, and it got out and returned home.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?????? if poeple dont want animals why do they have them??? i think people should be put thru a test to see if the are qualified to have animals.. thats includes a test to see if they should have kids also!! if it were me i would break the lock... its life or death right? maybe ask one of the other tenants who the landlord is.. but i would call a shelter and explain see what they have to say!

I hate people who provide up cats or different pets like that! My brother had to provide up his cats (they have been his female pal's who left them with him whilst she left the rustic to bypass to vet college). They have been all very unwell cats that have been taken from an animal wellness center the place human beings abandoned them because of wellness problems. It replaced into puzzling to re-abode those cats notwithstanding it replaced into completed! My husband had to pass as quickly as and his sister took his cat for the 300 and sixty 5 days it took him to discover a place that would desire to enable pets. Its actually fairly puzzling to discover a place that facilitates pets in my city! I want there replaced right into a regulation that would desire to tension landlords to permit pets! some undesirable puppy-vendors made it lots of a worry that no person desires to hire to them anymore. the only places that enable pets are two times the fee as nicer places for 0.5 the area/high quality! Very unhappy!!
