Shelly, how do you know you are not going to be seated at the same time table as the person you are destined to meet to be your future partner? Do you have an insight to who is going to be seated at what table? Do you have someone in mind? If so why wait until the wedding? Or have they been really horrible and made you have a table outside on your own? Thats the bit i find confusing about your question!

my parents met at a wedding nearly 40 yrs ago now ,
there is loads of time before the reception , while your having your meal and at the afters , if your going to weddings to meet future partners i suggest you go try some were else like a pub or club.

Erm...unless you're the one getting married (and it's VERY bad form to scout for future partners at your own wedding) there's very little to do other than socialise. Also, everyone's in a good mood, there's an instant conversation-opener available to you..."so how do you know Ethel and Bert?" so even if you're crap at conversation, you can manage to start something. It helps that most people end up blazing drunk and feeling romantic, and you're pretty much duty-bound to dance. So there you go...

Weddings are only chaotic while they are being planned - or seem that way - once under way - and especially at the reception - everyone is relaxed and enjoying themsleves - perfect place to meet someone. Lots of couples meet at other people`s weddings.

If you're in the wedding party, I accept its probably difficult, at least until all the formal stuff is over and done with. But as a wedding guest there isn't much more to do than chat with people and socialise surely! And if you're shy, weddings give you perfect opening lines...
"How do you know the bride/groom?"
"Doesn't she look beautiful"
"This all gives you faith in romance doesn't it"
"Did you know that loads of people hook up at weddings?"
Its romantic, there is booze... I don't see the confusion!

My oldest sister met her husband at a wedding!
Weddings are great places to hook up - it's not at meal time that you get together, it's in the mingling and in the dancing, everyone introducing everyone else!

Why bother. That special one is not so special at all. There are many out there that will fit the job requirements so just ask when you can.
I have had several of the very special one. Nive life too.
