It's hard to say without more info. Possibilities that you may want to look up are: boils, hypertrophic scarring and keloids.

How did they pierce it? Did you go to a prefessional who pierced it properly?

I have both of mine done and I had a small bump for a little while, it eventually went away.

However, years ago I had my cartlidge done with a gun and it left balls behind the ring and even after I took the rings out, the little flesh balls stayed there.

some people do get that with cartilage piercings, it's not unusual. my friends who had their cartilages pierced have them. i guess it's the body's way of having more flesh to support whatever you poked through the ear. i don't know how to get rid of it, though. with my tragues piercing, there was a small lump for some time. it disappeared on its own eventually

it's impossible to say without seeing the piercing. i advise that you visit your piercer and have them take a look at it. they will know what the problem is. it may be something as simple as the jewelry iritating the piercing.
