More and More people are praying on-line. I think it's incredibly awesome and I love being able to agree with you in prayer. Have you noticed? Do you enjoy praying here? And for those of you that don't then why did you bother to answer this question as like it or not we will pray for you and anyone who gives a negative answer.

Those of us praying for others ARE NOT doing it to be noticed which is what Jesus was talking about. When I am asked to pray I will. And this will NOT be going to voting I will choose the best answer. It's my question, my decision but I will pray for the Lord's leading to pick the right one. Imacatholic your use of love is not fitting with your answer which is very unloving.

Heavenly Father, we ask for your blessing on all who answered here. You know our hearts and that we aren't doing this for attention but to be able to encourage our brothers and sisters without being a chain mail. I lift up Obi-wan's request for the growth of Sanctuary of Praise International. Make it a place where You are lifted up and honored. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

Nothing wrong with a prayer on line. It is often done in Yahoo groups. I am more likely to agree to pray for something, and do so, the more details that are given. I like to lift up people by name and not just a situation.
I don't think we can be accused of flouting our egos before God for praying on line. Who knows who we are anyway? And what praise of men can we receive?
There may be some situations that we cannot pray for; but I know of no person that cannot be prayed for as God is no respecter of persons. Stephen was able to pray for the very people who killed him.

Sister Jan, I agree it is a joy to have the opportunity to pray for and with others as the requests are entered in the Internet.
I have only one agreement with Mrs. J and that is the proliferation of chain mail prayer. It is tawdry and cheapens the heart of prayer.
I have had the experience of receiving notification that prayer said long ago was answered affirmatively and miraculously, with one coming to salvation!
Also the Imacatholic which answered the foul answer is a clone.

We should pray everywhere and at all times but it should be in a manner that does not call large amounts of attention to ourselves. The exception to this, of course, is during corporate worship when a single person leads a body of congregants in prayer.
I agree to a large extent with Mrs J about those emails with chain prayers. I prefer to pray in my own way and with my own words. However I do believe in sending out prayer requests to other believers, WITHOUT going into detail what the need is.

Sister, I agree with you. This a great place for Christians to come and pray on line. I also would like to add a prayer request. Pray for the growth of our ministry as God is beginning to bless us to grow. Sanctuary of Praise International.

I thoroughly enjoy praying for people that post on-line prayer request and although I most often use my email contacts to send out prayer requests, I enjoy knowing that there is a larger community available to pray for my needs should I decide to post here.
As far as praying for others on-line or praying for them privately, I believe that is a matter of preference as long as the motivation is pure. When we seek the face of God for another it matters not whether we do so in a public forum or in private. If we seek to make ourselves seem spiritual by our activities, then we waste our efforts and bring shame on ourselves.

I think it's a great thing, provided we don't step across the line and make it sounding a trumpet before us as the hypocrites do, that they may be seen of men. There is, you know, such a thing as a secret prayer closet. It might be better to keep some things like agreement in prayer to a forum where we will only subject the prayer to Christian eyes - prayer is after all VERY intimate.
Love in Christ,
Tom

I like group prayer, but online prayer sounds kind of questionable. I'm not sure what "praying on-line" even means. Is that like sending God an e-mail?

Have you not considered Christ's directions & warning in this matter?:
“Also, when you pray, you must not be as the hypocrites; because they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the broad ways to be visible to men. Truly I say to you, They are having their reward in full. You, however, when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. --Matthew 6:5,6

True, there was no Internet at that time.
However, the principles in his directions are obvious.
Even 'public' prayers at Bible meetings are said among those who have some Respect... Not in front of Ridiculers, which the Internet is so full of.

Yes, I have and I consider it part of my Christian ministry to pray for people! I do think that praying on line has it's advantages since no one knows who you are, and it is easier to focus on your petition to God and thus the right motives are there.(Should be love and concern for your fellow man) It is important to be able to give God all the glory! I believe in the power of prayer and have seen it change lives. My life is included in that! God bless you all!
