Why do you assume i believe in god?

2007-04-11 14:21:09 · answer #1 · answered by Wardog 3 · 0 1

Rephrase.......Why DID I believe in God(I'm assuming you mean the God of the Bible)?? Because at first I didn't see what was right in front of my eyes. Peer presure. Just in case he was real i didn't want to go to hell, FEAR was the biggest factor.

Wellllll, it all started as a young, impressionable, all accepting, gullible me. Instead of relying on my own feelings and knowledge, I took the word of others as more athority than myself. The adults were mostly lying pigs who didn't follow what they preached. It is hard to believe it took me as long as it did to discard the ideas of all religions. If these preachers knew so much, why was the world such a damn mess?? Everyone following someone else and the leader being blind didn't seem to make sense anymore. I guess I could compare my experience as waking up from a bad dream. I'm glad its over. Now I feel as though reality IS....I am not in any position to even comprehend what God really is. There is obviously something that Created, but like creations, they come from nothing and we make them into something. So therfor we are all creators which makes us gods to our creations. We are all Gods! We just happen to be in the infantile stages compared to the one(or more)that made us or helped in the making. Or helped make adjustments along the way. We are a work in progress. More work than progress right now but that will soon change. You are here to learn things. This is like a big holodeck so to speak. Make the best of it.

Honestly, I have always been in church, from the time I was a baby until now, and have never not believed. But what strengthens my faith is the things that God has done for me and my family. When my husband and I prayed one night and told him we were ready for a child when He was ready to give us one our daughter was conceived that night. We had not used contraception or birth control for months prior. I have seen his power in action in the lives of many of my family and friends. I have also read the Old Testament and the many prophecies that have come true and are coming true today. I can see God at work all over the Earth.

Because life exists. All of creation is God's second book that he autographed. Because I have a friend that I may not see, but I experience daily. Because evil exists, and people respond to the message just as Jesus predicted. Because the Bible was compiled over a few thousand years by people who never knew each other and yet all wrote about the same God. Because the Bible also gives prophecy that was fulfilled after it was written and continues to unravel just as it says it will. See, not so tough.

I was taught to believe in God, I was raised Roman Catholic, went to church every Sundays and even went to church school during the weekend until I was 11 or 12, but the thing is I really stopped going to Church since I was 15 or 16 and I'm in my 20's now, at first it was just inconvenient as life got more hectic with work and school and transportation to Church was just a pain, then it became natural, just didn't feel the need to go, plus I started to embraced my culture more as I grew and started thinking for myself, being from an Asian family with confucious and buddhist values it was natural to pay respect to my ancestors and the elders in my family more than to worship God in a church. I still don't dismiss God, or Jesus, but they're just not what they use to be for me.

Because I can feel Him in my soul. I see evidence of him every day. He is my constant companion--my reason to laugh, to live, and to love. Never have I found such deep communion in any human or animal companion--nor will I. It's not a tough question at all. It is who I am.

Combination of family beliefs, being raised in church, education, study of philosophy, history, religion and science, life experiences mostly, have learned to adore this great wonder, take awe in the Lord's presence, built a relationship, and learned ultimately non of us have true control over our lives, there is a force, an energy, who can destroy it at any moment.

Tough question? No! I beleive in God because he created me in His image, He loves me, He provides for me, He gave His son as a blood sacrifice for my sin. Its not a tough question at all.

I don't actually believe in a seperated god. My god is one that is everything. There is no heaven or hell or deities. Nothing to be worshipped just appreciated. I still call myself agnostic though.
