i went for my biopsy thing where they look at my cervix through a maginfying glass. i'm so scared because they told me they found precancerous cells in the pap smear test from my last appointment and possibly could have HPV but is uncertain. but me and my bf were virgins...so i dunno. so thats why i had this biopsy done today. she said sometimes pap smear tests can turn out to be wrong. and thats what i'm hoping. i'm hoping to be normal. they said it's not dangerous now, but it sure sounds scary. how serious is this?

Pap smears can be wrong sometimes.

I have had two abnormal pap smears within the last few years. The first one turned out to be precancerous cells caused by HPV. They later developed into cervical cancer.

About a year or so later I got another abnormal pap smear and had to have another colposcopy done (similar to a biopsy). This time it turned out to be nothing my doctor said.

So, it's very possible that it's absolutely nothing. Don't stress too much until you find out what's really going on! Good luck to you!

I had the same thing happen to me They made me an appoint men to have the cells burned off which did not hurt at all. Turns out I did not have HPV. That was 5 years ago. I have had 2 kids and numerous pap smears sense and everything is fine. Its pretty common especially in girls that have sex at a young age and smoke. I'm sure everything will be fine.

I had precancerous cells on my cervix for a long time. It is really importnant to go to your doctor and get pap smears often. I had to have one every 2 months for awhile. Anyways, once the cells get "worse" you might have to have them removed. I had a leep procedure done in 05 and haven't had a abnormal pap yet. Don't worry I'm sure you'll be just fine.

My understanding is that If the problem cells are still there, they usually do a procedure to remove the cells in a very thin layer. This usually works. The precancerous cells are removed so that they cannot become cancerous later.

HPV is very scary especially if it does turn cancerous. Because you are young and you said you were a virgin hopefully it is a fluke. If it does turn out that you have HPV then you probably picked it up from your partner. For now try to think positive remembering that you are a virgin so hopefully it is a mistake.

if it was an incorrect pap then you have nothing to worry about, that is why they did the biopsy. Relax, they can freeze the cells off.
