and they keep giving me new in- transits, now I just want my money back so I can get something that I can register. Do I have that right legally? By the way, I paid cash for it, no bank loans or anything like that.

Theoretically you have the legal right you get your money back. But let's face it, these guys "sold" you a car they had no title for. And they've been bandaging it so you can drive. It doesn't sound to me like you'll have an easy time getting your money.

Did you really pay cash, or did you use a Cheque? If it was really cash there may not even be enough of a paper trail to prove your purchase.

Hopefully this doesn't cost you too much, but there's a couple of lessons there. Always make sure of the documentation, and always have a paper trail.

Under the common law, yes; the dealer did not deliver the product in question because the title is part of it. But it might require a legal action to pull this off. Your next stop should be the DMV. Next time, you'll be smarter and not leave the lot without a signed title in hand to take to the DMV.
