My brother lives in Manhattan and he thinks it takes about 1 or 1 1/2 hours but I just read that it takes 15 minutes to ride the subway from midtown Manhattan to the Bronx. He usually takes cabs so he's not the most reliable source.

Destination in the Bronx would be Hostos Community College. Starting point, mmmm, let's say smack dab in the middle of Brooklyn.

UPDATE: From mid Brooklyn to Hostos Community College - 149th Street (figuring that you will either take the "2", "4" or the "5") should be about an hour and 10 minutes or so.

It takes a whiiiiiiiille! Those best guesses are just that!! Ideal circumstances. Wait til after rush hour. Figure you have to wait on the platform, then, the Bronx is really flung out. Everything beyond the Manhattan proximity is way out. Then train delays. It use to take me a couple hours to get from 231st street to midtown on the east side.

I'm sorry, but it's impossible to answer your question without knowing what part of Brooklyn you are in and where in the Bronx you are going. I used to live in Brighton Beach (first stop on the subway) - it took about an hour and a half to go to Yankee Stadium.

Please post more information (not your home address, but the subway stop where you live would be very helpful).

depends on the train. On the 2 train it will take me about an hour whereas the 5 train it will take me about 45 minutes (the 5 train have less stops than the 2 train)
