A housewarming party is a party held on the occasion of moving into a new residence. It is an occasion for the hosts to present their new home to their friends, and sometimes for friends to give gifts to furnish the new home. Housewarming parties are generally informal; usually there are no planned activities besides a possible tour.
I would have plenty of hor'duerves, maybe some wine or beer tasting.......if you want to play some games - you could have a prize for the person who guesses correctly. Or you could have a door prize.....the party is mostly for you......good company, good friends, good food and beverage - that's is your only obligation.

A housewarming isn't supposed to include games and such, just friends getting together to celebrate a new home. And, as such, they stay as long as they like and leave when they like. You might have a special celebration that would include your pastor, or spiritual advisor, offering a blessing while everyone holds hands, or ask that each of your friends offers something positive for the event. Have good food, a little wine or punch, and some music in the back ground. Enjoy!

pagans seem to be fun loving but they are serious, and usually they don't have such a concentrated idea of fun. Usually in a new home there's a blessing ceremony and a purification ceremony, but like everyone else they like a good party and things sometimes happen pretty spontaneously. Everyone should contribute in some way to the evening and usually everybody brings a gift. I don't think at the beginning of your residence to should set up too many 'crazy' vibrations but make it possible for people to 'hang cool' as we used to say; a relaxed atmosphere, except for the music, but what do people dance to these days and how do they dance? Oh goodness I am showing may age!!!

Make it a come and go party. I have never heard of games being played! Usually people want to see the house, so you'll be busy giving tours and visiting. Maybe have a DVD or kid's movie playing if anyone will bring little kids.

Potted plants for a door prize. Just draw a name. Have the guests write their favorite recipe' on a card, collect them. Then have the guests guess who each recipe' was written by. The person w/ the most right guesses get a party gift. { a deck of cards or personal sized desert or something}

Just treat it like any other social party you would host in your home!! Serve some good food, good drink, background music and make sure conversations are flowing and the people invited are a good mix!!
Organized activities wouldn't really go....but you could always have some cards, poker chips, and fun games (board games) handy just in case!!

As far as the food goes ... you could do a variety of fondues. It's fun, tasty, creates conversation and takes up some of the time. Get 4 fondue pots.
One with hot oil for battered vegis (mushrooms, cauliflower, broccoli, etc).
One with hot broth (any flavor) for thinly sliced raw meats, shrimp, etc.
One with cheese for a variety of breads (cubed).
One with chocolate for strawberries and other fruit.
