There is kind of a pre summer beach party going on over at a friends house this weekend! He has a jacuzzi/ whirlpool and I am not so keen in jumping in if I might catch something from someone
What is the deal?

Thanks in advance

You practically have a 0% chance of contracting genital warts (HPV) or any other STD.

STDs are almost always spread by sex (vaginal, oral, or anal) or by DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area; hence the acronym STD (sexually transmitted disease).

I have had HPV and genital herpes for over 6 years. I lived with my parents and brothers for most of those 6 years. I've gone swimming and shared a jacuzzi with them, other family members, boyfriends, etc, several times and NONE of them ever got either STD from me.

Unless you are having sex in the jacuzzi or you are rubbing up against someones genital area (bare to bare skin), your chance of getting something is practically none.

My friend who has been an R.N. for 10+ years told me about a story where 3 old ladies 70+ ended up w/ the same std from a hot tub used on vacation that wasnt properly taken care of. As long as the chemicals are used properly you should be fine, but check to make sure

I don't think there is much of a chance, if the water is hot and clean and the tub is regularly cleaned and chlorinated the risk is minimal. But I don't think I would want to share a tub with a number of other people - you know what some people do in the bath...
