Disability is reserved for those who cannot work due to their condition, so in the case of diabetes it depends on the severity of the case, but typically being diabetic alone isn't reason enough to qualify. If it leads to loss of limbs or is exacerbated by morbid obesity and you can no longer function in any job, then you could qualify.

I don't think so since doctors feel that diabets can be well managed by diet, exercise and insulin if needed. Only if other complications like neuropathy, vasculopathy, gangrene resulting in amputation of limbs, retinopathy etc. may cause enough damage to force disability.

If the diabetes has been so out of control that you've had to have a foot/leg amputated. Otherwise, no. It's very treatable. Millions and millions of people have diabetes---even insulin dependent--and they work just fine. My niece has had it since she was 8 and she's insulin dependent, works all day and works out every night. She's in great shape.

Anyone who is unable to work for what ever reason should be able to get help, but that's not how it works. If you are truly disabled, get a lawyer. That seems like the only way to get anything done.

unless its really severe i doubt because diabetes is pretty common these days, who knows tomorrow people who wear spectacles may demand for a disability pension...your not disabled until you are dis-able...unable to do things that mainstream normality can do without the needs of special help........

Only if you are truely disabled and can't work. Your doc would have to make that decision as you need a docs referral etc to get on disability.
