Let's offer a brief categorical expedient here: Do you mean in terms of socio-economics, or the approach, or model, used to medicine in the U.S.?

If model is what you focus on, then the answer would be Allopathic Medicine, sometimes called Western Medicine.

There are other viable systems but not as pronounce, for the economics of the world is capitalistic, and these other systems, though equally if not more viable, do not promise that all too well-known bane of the " developed " world, which has nothing at all to do with medicine, the penchant to pursue high capital returns to the tune of untold billions of dollars, and which is the other system that you may possibly be addressing.

The upside of allopathic medicine is it evidences maybe the best in terms of emergent care and addressing quickly that of symptomology as well as detailed diagnosis by dint of its ally, bio-medical engineering. The downside is many, however.

And because of this, its dominancy will wane over the next years but will not go away and need not, which is good, for the world needs many "systems" working in tandem to carry properly for the weak and infirm.

I should say briefly, the term "cure" is consideraly more apt as regards these other systems, for they go straight and deep to the underlying pathologies, and do not rely upon technology but instead on a keener, self-reliant honed skill, but which benefit for the patient typically requires more time to evidence the result in the patient, for nature is deliberate and so are these other systems [by deliberate I mean a slow process, though no less detailed] which is just what the typical American, and somewhat the European, don't have or want to take -- time.
