If there were no bad things happening we would not be challenged.
Remember we all have free will and some people choose to abuse that.
God does not intervene all the time. We need challenges.
When does intervene we may not always be aware of it.
He chooses not to show himself, otherwise we wouldnt really have free will.
If we say a giant hand coming out of the sky to smite the wrong doers pretty soon there would be no free will.
People would live largly in fear.
Life is not intended to be easy, "paradise", if it were none of us would learn anything.
Life is to teach us that there really is only one way to carry on, that is to try, however hard it might be, to love one and other.
Without the graphic demonstration of what heppens when we dont this lesson would take a lot more learning.
I hope this helps.

He sees more than we do. He knows that our suffering in the eternal scheme is but a very brief moment. He allows all of us to suffer because it helps us become stronger and more compassionate for others.
Furthermore, He gives us the ability to choose good and evil. When people choose evil, it can cause innocent people to suffer. When we choose evil, it can also cause our own suffering. In either case, God wants us to become more compassionate to our fellow man and become better people, but if we don't, He won't make us become better. It is up to each one of us to give Him this gift. If He were to demand or force us to be better, nobody would actually learn anything. It's kind of like when a parent allows a teenage child to get in trouble with the law when they rebel. He doesn't enjoy our suffering, but He won't keep us from the consequences of our bad choices. This helps us to learn not to do bad things.
As for the justice on those who hurt others and get off free in this life, there will be a final accounting and such people will acknowledge their guilt before God.
Sometimes, what seems like a bad thing happens for no apparent reason. If somebody is killed in a freak accident, it might be that God has some work for them to do as a spirit. If somebody is severely injured in a freak accident, it might be that either they or someone close to them needs to learn something that can only be learned in that way. Ultimately, those bad things that happen to us that we can't control will actually help us in the long run. Just because we can't see the end result now does not mean that God doesn't exist or has gone away.
The ultimate purpose of this life is as a test. We are here on Earth to be tested and see if we will become better, more compassionate people or if we will hurt ourselves and others through our own actions. We can't always control what happens to us, but we can control how we react and what we do to try and make the world better. This is the purpose of life and this is why God put us here.

Why does a loving parent have an errant child do chores for breaking the rules? To teach them a lesson that they obviously didn't appreciate, & emphasize the need for cooperating, so that the trouble can might be totally avoided in the future. It is the same with God, & his human children.
This is explained from the Bible in:

God gave us free will. If you want someone to love you, do you want them to love you because YOU MADE them love you or because THEY CHOSE to love you? That is what it is like for God.
Bad things happen due to this free will, people can do they want, and sometimes this causes bad things to happen. Unfortunately, in the world we live in many people have a problem admitting they are wrong, and blame God, when in fact they should have a long hard look at themselves!
Nobody is perfect and we are all sinners, but if we do not have a relationship with God through Christ Jesus, then the bad things will continue as the people will probably not be seeing their own downfall.
For example, a friend asked "Why did God allow my Dad to have an affair?"
I replied "Does your Dad believe in God and is he a Christian?"
He said "No"
SO I then replied again, "God didn't allow your Dad to have the affair, your Dad did"
God ahd no way of reaching him to tell him what he was doing was wrong due to a lack of belief as he had taken the offer of free will.

I believe that God has a plan. We may never know why God makes the decisions he does. I try to think of the world as a piece of unfinished needlework. Beautiful on one side, and full of knots and unraveled threads on the other. Only God sees the finished side. How could we bare to deal with the awful things that happen in the world if we did not have faith that these things happen for a reason.

Thats probably one of the hardest questions believers have to answer and no one can be certain of their reply. I would have to say that I believe that there is some form of a devil out there that acts on our minds and our actions to tempt us. I also believe that if bad things did not happen how could we realise how good God is if we see nothing else, how can we become brave when there is nothing to fear, generous when there is no poor.
I believe that God is real and could stop suffering if he chose but we all learn from mistakes and we don't always want to do the right thing. Remember the story of the prodical son, he would never have come back to his father if he hadn't seen the suffering of a world without him. More than my opinions I cannot give you but I hope they help :)

The things that happen are not because of God. The famines out in Africa, could all be stopped tomorrow, as this planet produced enough food for every man woman and child, its just that man does not share it out to fellow man. Its the same for medical needs. There are certain companies who are more bothered about their profit & do not allow a Medicine to be produced more cheaply in 3rd world countries & then charge the poorer countries a bomb. This is all caused by mans greed not God.
As for when there is an earth quake. its the same old story!

That question of why does God allow sin has been asked by theologians for centuries and I am not sure anyone has ever produced a answer that satisfies everyone. I guess the bottom line is that "He is God", and this is the way He has chosen to do it. His method is to allow it to happen but provide a way of escape from it through jesus Christ. I guess my queston is why do so many reject the provision He has made to escape evil and reject the etrnal life He offers without violence or sin or death. I guess one of the reasons He allows it is because even when He offers the solution the majority of people reject it, so why should He take evil away from them?

God has given us the option to choose between good and evil, so on our own part, we need to make sure peace reign whereever we are. Also so many bad things are happening here and there because is a sign of end time. Read Mathew 24.

Bad things happen because of the free will he gave mankind. We have the freedom of thought, to make things peaceful or warlike. Because of man's transgressions, and for turning away from God, we allow our own fates to be determined in the worst way. True peace is an individual gift from God. Even Jesus was rejected in his day, and put to death by his own people. They saw miracles yet rejected the truth. What more can be shown to you to convince you that mankind can't manage the world alone? Your personal destiny is in your hands--as mine is. The earth is paying a price for disobedience. To believe it or not is an individual matter.
