I was right at the front of the ques to turn right at the junction of Camden Rd and Holloway Rd. There were cars next to me and behind me. An ambulance approaced in my lane a few cars back. I edged forward onto the padestrian crossing (still going through the first light, but not crossing the road). There was a people ambulance next to me in the other lane and the driver indicated that I should drive on as the ambulance still couldn't get past (as was still stuck behind the cars behind me. I did and crossed the road. Now I'm worried I'm going to get a ticket! Anyone know about these things?!

Unless a camera got you, you'll be fine. Human beings have common sense, if a police officer saw you he/she would also have realised what you were doing.

There have been problems with drivers dodging into bus lanes to give room to emergency vehicles and being caught by the bus lane cameras, so much so that the official advice is now not to do it whatever the urgency, and emergency service drivers know this and wouldn't expect you to move.

In you case I expect you would have known about it if a camera had got you, so you should be okay.

For what it's worth, I recently dived (safely) into a coned-off lane on a dual carriageway to get out of the way of a police car in a hurry, and the copper gave me a toot and a thumbs-up as he flashed by me.

(And for the benefit of the US readers, Camden Rd and Holloway Rd are in the UK, so your rules don't apply!)

As long as they see you go thought the light and then the ambulance go thought you'll be fine. It's better to let it through than not, I remember some fool who could have just edged left and got out of the way, but didn't budge. A bus was forced to turn right thought 3 lanes of traffic to get out the way.
You did the right thing, the quicker an ambulance gets to where it needs to go, the better.
P.S. Legally, there's some stupid law which means emergency service vehicles aren't allowed to go through red lights, but that's stupid - so obviously they do anyway, but if there's a crash, is the emergency service vehicle who drive who get charged with dangerous driving, even if it's got sirens AND blue flashing lights on.

You could have gotten a ticket for not getting out of the way. That is known as failure ot yield to an emergency vehicle. You did the right thing and you will not get a ticket. You did good.

I actually read a story just the other week of the same situation and the driver got ticketed - so it can happen but the guy is appealing and he'll def have it dropped. you will be fine.

the only acception for crossing red lights is to allow emergency vehicle access so you should not get a ticket
if you do then you have the right to appeal the ticket on that ground

you were allowing an ambulance through ; it wasn't like you ran the red light because you couldn't be stuffed waiting. it'll be fine. if you do get fined, explain to the cops. they'll be plenty of witness's

you can if its safe go beyond the stop line to let it through. if its got camera just appeal summons if you get one and keep a note of time etc to plead your case

If you weren't seen then you got away with it. If you were charged any judge would throw it out of court.
