its always been prevalent throughout all historical and modern societies
theres more than enough evidence that it is not a "choice" like christians like to think it is, cause the bible tells them so

Sodom and Gamorrah; the Greeks; the Romans; the Babylonians; the Persians; in fact, most cultures throughout time. Nope, I don't think it's any worse now than at any other time. I think, that for a time it was very open, then not talked about and now is open again. I don't think it's an evolutionary pattern, but possibly indicative of a moral cycle of some sort.

I think it is roughly the same, but in the past in some societies - as ancient Greece - homosexuality was not viewed as sin, in others it was viewed as such therefore homosexuals had to hide. Nowadays it is viewed both ways, but in general homosexuals are accepted, so it is more talked about, through more powerful mediatic tools (example television). I think this gives the impression that homosexuality is on the rise.

Since there has not been a census to record actual numbers of people that were or are homosexual that will never be known for sure. I would guess that since it is more acceptable in society that there are more "practicing" homosexuals now. Many in years past would have hidden it completely and lived a heterosexual life.

Ancient Greek and Rome permitted even encouraged homosexuality. So by percentage they probably had greater numbers.
Why ask this in R&S - should be in the section for asking question about homosexuality

Are you now just noticing.... it is because of too much over populating around the world... Need to stop making babies worldwide and take care of what we have now... too many children dying and too many young people making unwanted babies. We gays being kind and loving, tend to raise these unwanted children as our own and provide a family oriented atmosphere for them to grow in.... Break the barriers internationally and lets help these children out. We as gays are here to stay and hopefully straighten out the mess and put balance back into the world......created by everyone else....

As homosexuality has gradually become more accepted in society, more of them have come "out". This is not to say that there were any less back in the day, it just wasn't as accepted as it is today.

there are a lot recorded in roman times, most cultures did not accept gay people so they hid. there are no good records of statistics, because they pretend to be straight it could pass the trait on, but there are no studies of this, it may be caused by hormone levels in the womb. I think it is a constant.

Maybe it's genetic for some people but I'm starting to see alot more people who claim they are not gay but "CURIOUS" which leads me to believe that it's just something that is becoming normal and accepted. I personally don't have anything against GAYs but I don't think it's something normal either. This world is going crazy! I feel sorry for our kids there is no longer "TRADITION" instead we have "CONFUSION"!!
