Spell check wouldn't catch it if it's spelled correctly. It's a grammar mistake.

I'm throwing a HUGE party to celebrate when that happens. That said, most folks still haven't figured out how to use a spell checker, so I'm not stocking up on party favors yet!

In case you have not noticed, Yahoo Answers is not the place for the grammar and spelling police!
My niece is an honor student and she spells terribly! I blame it on MySpace and text messaging.

wut - for what
and a whole slew of other spelling foibles.

How about the difference between chose and choose? They'll learn it when the schools start teaching it. But they won't do that because they're too busy trying to protect their precious little feelings from getting hurt because they got a bad grade.

Some day, I hope, when they're in an awkward situation because of their English, and they realize they're just not there.
It's very unfortunate actually that young generations do not care about their native tongue. It is not just in English, but it's the same in many other languages. It hurts me sometimes.

Well, most people should have learned this in elementary school, as it is one of the most confusing things in the English language. Unfortunately people either don't pay attention, and/or passed that grade without complete understanding.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!! Seriously, this is my BIGGEST pet peave. I want to have a seizure when I see people do that. The best way that I've found to teach someone is with humor and vulgarity. I invented this sentence and people seem to remember it:

"If they're going to continue to confuse these words then I'm going to go over there and kick their butts!"

What bothers me even more than that is the improper use of apostrophes. "I have two dog's. There names are..." OMG, seriously--that makes my skin crawl. WHY don't people pay attention in elementary school? Worse yet, when they know they're making mistakes, why don't they care? Don't they understand that when speaking or writing improperly, it makes them appear unintelligent?

When will people stop making spelling and grammar complaints in the etiquette section? There is a language section you know.

When they start to think for themselves, and recall just the smallest amount about grammar. Pronouns, contractions, words describing directions or places--it's as easy as that.

They will learn when they pay attention in school. This something that is taught at a very low level in school.
