By breaking nine out of ten commandements per day and then having the unmitigated audacity to tell other people that they are going to hell? Where exactly in the bible does it say that Jesus did that? Chapter and verse please?Did Jesus ever say"well that's what the bible says, so if you have a problem with it take it up with God!"? Who exactly did Jesus call an abomination? Chapter and verse please? If anybody had a right to judge anybody it was Jesus, after all he was God, yet he did not. Instead he went out and found the most undesireable outcasts of society, Mary Magdelene, Zaccheus, Saul--and became their new best friend. He told them about heaven, because at the time people really didn't know. NOW THEY DO, let it drop.

They don't want to spend eternity with you, they think five minutes talking to you is an eternity. You are pushing people away from God. Why can't you see this? Your heart is in the right place but your head is up your @ss--would you like me to lie to you now?

Interesting thoughts and a humane p.o.v.
I wish more christians on this site would espouse this view, but I know there are at least a couple. I just laugh at the rest, the fire and brimstone crowd.

Speaking of abomination which is nearly always homosexuality (and for some reason, the eating of shellfish), it is interesting that Jesus never really speaks out on it. Paul of Tarsus was a complete homophobe, and whatever Jesus' views were, there is plenty of gay-hating stuff in there: http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_bibc1.htm

I wonder what your views are?

Great question, now I know we can't be perfect like Jesus but we can strive for excellence right? That's what most businesses strive for right? I mean in customer service and what not. But if you really want a straight up answer, I'd say live out the Word.

And it's hard to find a church like that these days, when you have cults and churches becoming more Americanized.

act as jesus would. i totally agree with u. if u push people towards God they will freak out and totally ignore u. but if u act as jesus would, people see it and want 2 know whats going on with u. When they see the fire you have 4 jesus, they will come 2 watch u burn 4 him (in a good way) and wen they c that u r happy and u r satisfied, they will want that 2 and ask u how they can be happy and satisfied 2.

O yeah! and 4 the guy who wrote "jesus is dead; get over it" ur horribly mistaken. In case u didnt read the whole story...
Jesus is condemned 2 die
jesus is crucified
jesus dies on the cross
jesus is put in the tomb
then... ok this is why we celebrate easter....Jesus rose from the dead.
Resurrection....
then 40 days later he ascended into heaven

get it? got it? good.

You made some good points. Now let me answer your question. We need to pray every day for God's guidance when it comes to trying to be like Him. We can become complacent and think we are doing a good job when we really could do way better. The important thing is to follow what Jesus said instead of making up our own rules of what being a Christian is.

Hear hear to what my friends Acid and Orac said. It is very refreshing to see a Christian on this site who is actually willing to go against the party line - and not in a wack-job fundie way. (Apologies, I have a stinking cold and seem to have coughed up all eloquence along with half a lung...)

I think by this very act you have shown yourself to be somewhat like the Jesus I always had some respect for. Grudging respect, I readily admit - as I am, after all, an heathen - but respect nonetheless.

Well and bravely spoken.

Go back to the Gospels. Jesus did not come into the world to condemn it, but that the world, through Him, might be saved. Through His life, He showed us how to live. Please note that at the time He came, He did not come to Judge the world. That time is yet to come, and He will Judge the world. But throught the Apostles He delivered us a lot of information we needed after He had risen. But Jesus did find Himself involved in Biblical debate on many occasions, and while He never said "That's what the Bible says, take it or leave it," He did take the Word and turn His oppositions' arguements on their heads. Remember Jesus IS the Word of God.

Why are you concerned with what others are doing? If you want to be like Jesus, you must begin to think like Jesus and focus on more important things. A lot of people avoid God because some Christian has rubbed them the wrong way. That is a weak excuse not to put God first.

Stop using a computer. Help others before yourself. Start learning carpentry, do your business in a hole in the ground, bathe in some natural source of water...

Focus less on being "christian" and more on helping others because it's the right thing to do.

Oh and by the way, the bible was written after Jesus died so he couldn't refer to it. Nice job.

A minor technical quibble: If the head is up the @ss, then the position of the heart doesn't make a blind bit of difference.

I'm just sayin'.

Pharisee is what you call them, and sometimes it's hard to distinguish one from the other. Being a pharisee is easier, that's why there is so many of them.
