Which state do you live in?
Those cameras are being challenged in court in many states.
Most state laws only allow sworn officers to issue tickets.

The camera is to take pics of light runners, speeders etc. The camera does not give speeding tickets, the police issues the ticket, they have proof on film. Ticket will probably be in the mail within a couple weeks. On camera, best to pay it , for get it and stop running lights.

I think they got rid of those dang things i colorado. They used to have a warning posted well before you seen the camera van, so you could slow down. They do have the ones at stop lights for those who run lights on busy intersections. I laughed at the revenue the state was getting when about 7 or eight cars got flashed and this was daily. I Hope the flash was for "the other guy"!

I have been nailed in Albuquerque, NM making a right turn as the light changed. I paid $100. the same as a person going straight into cross traffic. I don't think that is fair because making a right turn you do not come in contact with other vehicles. I think it should be a lesser fine.
In Minneapolis, the city had to remove the camera's because the court ruled it unconstitutional because you were guilty and had to prove your innocence but you couldn't challenge your accuser in court.

Cameras usually take photos of those vehicles that are either speeding or running red lights. If you were in the way it is likely that the camera went off not because of you, but because of another driver. So I wouldn't worry about whether or not you were caught. The camera's focus is that of vehicles that are in violation not pedestrians.

They can give speeding tickets if attached with a radar device. If you went through the light and your tire was over the yellow line before the light turned red-you won't get a ticket for "running a red light". But yes you may get one for speeding. Usually if they are going to mail you a ticket, you'll get it within 30 days.

The camera is triggered by sensors in the ground that know how fast you are going. They take a picture of your license plate and then the transportation department mails you a ticket that you have to pay.
