The stuff didn't even taste like orange, it was very gritty when made up but everyone thought it was great.

Everyone is answering 'Tang', but what they are not saying is that it is still available.

An odd thing about it is, it will clean all the hard water deposits from your dishwasher. Start a cycle in an empty dishwasher, turn it off, throw the contents of a small container of Tang around on the inside, let it sit for half an hour, then finish the cycle. Your dishwasher will run much better.

Yah, that would be an imitation drink called "Tang", and the stuff tasted like sh*t!! I have no idea how it became so popular a drink, but it was all the rave for a while (unfortunately)

I'd guess Tang, like the astronauts use. Works great in your dishwasher to remove stains too (sad but true).

OOOPS...guess I should've read all of the answers before I included the dishwasher part...

I don't recall it being any of the above names. I DO remeber the drink, as kids we'd have it as a 'treat' at christmas. I thought itwas called sunburst or something similar.
Thanks for the memory.

it was "tang" and i'm sure the astronauts are glad it isn't the breakfast drink of choice on missions any more!
