Sex with the uncle, why is it all his fault?

Every jumped all over the uncle who had sex with the 14 year old niece, even though she has feelings for him. Yes, he should have known better but there are 14 yr olds all over Y-answers having sex all over the place. Both the uncle and the niece are to blame, why should he go to jail and be a sex offender the rest of his life? Isn't that a bit old fashioned in this day and age? She did not say he forced her at all.

She is old enough to consent to an abortion without her parents approval - but in this case it's all his fault? Yes it's sick and yes he is at fault but to go to jail? I don't agree.

its because it is in our culture and the way we were raised to see incest as wrong and disgusting. also when you say uncle most people think of old man in their 40's and 30's at the least.

he was wrong to be sleeping with a 14 year old when he is 7 years older then her, 14 year olds are full of hormones and dont know what they really want and he would probobly get a sexual misconduct with a minor charge in the court of law.

however the way people jumped all over that was pitiful, we were given very little information, just like the court of law to fully determine the situation we need circumstances, the question was very vauge and everyone ignorned circumstances. it was almost as pitiful as a 21 year old having sex with a 14 year old in the firstpalce.

I guess the point is not made enough that a 12 year old is too young to be having sex; so is a 14 year old. Also a 15 year old. At 17, you're still too young but no one seems to be able to wait beyond that age!
The point is not that the child (sh'e a child, which makes him a pedophile) has feelings for him. Pedophiles like to have romantic thoughts about little kids - as young as 7 - and they are happy to molest little kids who are affectionate to them. They encourage the affection with the goal in mind that they will have sex with that child.
Do you understand that a child and an adult are not on a level playing field, that a child trusts and views an adult through a lens that gives that adult sometimes more trust than he or she deserves?

There's nothing old-fashioned about it. Adults know full well that a 14 year old male or female with a body that may have aspects of a fully grown adult are mentally and emotionally still children. Hormones are very powerful, almost overwhelming at this stage so vulnerabilities are thus magnified. Parents need to be aware and proactive in counseling thier teens about what is happening and the consequences of acting out on this energy and its urges. Have your teen expend this energy in sports and or another endeavor. Her uncle was wholly in the wrong and it was predatory in nature, he should see jail time. All women and especially female teachers should see jail time as much as their male counterparts when they have sex with any minor.

The idea is that a 14-year-old doesn't have the maturity level to make that kind of a decision. If two ninth-graders decide to have sex, that's just two kids making a bad decision. If a 14-year-old and a 40-year-old have sex, then the child can't be held responsible whereas the adult should have known better, the act being illegal and all.

It's the same thing behind why 14-year-olds can't buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, drive, or vote.

First of all that's disgusting very disgusting. You shouldn't have sex with family members period. The 14 year old isn't an adult and legally can't consent to sex even if she wanted it. Because only pedophiles have sex w/ 14 yr olds. The reason why there is a legal age of consent is because 14 yr olds can't make decisions as serious as this and fully understand the consequences of it.
