Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that human beings can grow and progress spiritually until, through the mercy and grace of Christ, they can inherit and possess all that the Father has-they can become gods. This is taught in revelations given to modern prophets (see D&C 76:58; 132:19-20), as well as in sermons delivered by Joseph Smith.9 A couplet written by Lorenzo Snow, fifth president of the LDS Church, states: As man now is, God once was; As God now is, man may be.10
This doctrine is generally referred to as deification, and the LDS expression of this doctrine is often misrepresented and misunderstood. Latter-day Saints do not believe that human beings will ever be independent of God, or that they will ever cease to be subordinate to God. They believe that to become as God means to overcome the world through the atonement of Jesus Christ (see 1 John 5:4-5; Revelation 2:7, 11). Thus the faithful become heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ and will inherit all things just as Christ inherits all things (see Romans 8:17; Galatians 4:7; 1 Corinthians 3:21-23; Revelation 21:7). They are received into the "church of the firstborn," meaning they inherit as though they were the firstborn (see Hebrews 12:23). There are no limitations on these scriptural declarations; those who become as God shall inherit all things. In that glorified state they will resemble our Savior; they will receive his glory and be one with him and with the Father (see 1 John 3:2; 1 Corinthians 15:49; 2 Corinthians 3:18; John 17:21-23; Philippians 3:21).

It doesn't mean that you can become a "A GOD" it means simply that as Christ was an image of God.....We as Christians which translated from it's Latin origin means little Christ or Christ like.....we are or ought to be emulating the desires and works of Christ. Therefor to be Christ like is to be like God. I belong to the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am here to promote good dialog so in respect of my comment I am sorry for those of you who find it necessary to tear down other people for their beliefs. I will later pose a question to this I hope you will all respond to.

Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus’ incarnation was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary. They believe Jesus is a God, but that any human can also become a god.

Wow. What potential this notion creates for the mankind and the possibilities it engenders. Mankind is not just a being to slump around thru life and hope for the best. Human beings have the potential to progress thru the eternities as glorified, exhalted beings and be creators of some much fantastic good.
As I watch the nature of things, and see how we meet a mate, create a family, and watch them grow and meet a mate and create their own little families, and they grow up...etc etc. It seems to just be following the same pattern and nature of things that already exist, but just on a more grander, more eternal scale. Awesome

Tell me what these verses are saying:
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Galatians 4: 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

YES!......Mormons deny the deity of Jesus Christ. Mormonism is a heresy and an abomination against God!
The Deity of Jesus Christ is a fundamental doctrine of the faith, yet Mormons deny Christ's deity. Instead, Mormons promote man to the status of being "gods." Mormonism is straight from Hell and must be exposed for the lies that it teaches. The Word of God proclaims that Jesus Christ is God (John 1:1-3,10,14). Isaiah 9:6 called Jesus the "Everlasting Father." John 10:33 reads, "The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God." The Jews were trying to kill Jesus because He was claiming to be God. They also tried to murder Jesus in John 8:57-59. In fact, Jesus professed Himself as Almighty God in Revelation 1:8, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Jesus forgave sin as only God can do (Mark 2:5). Jesus accepted worship as only God is entitled to (Isaiah 42:8; Matthew 8:2). Mormons wickedly deny Christ's deity, while selfishly proclaiming their own. Mormons have foolishly bought into the Devil's lie that they will one day become gods. The Word of God never teaches any such nonsense. There is and always will be only one Living God (Deuteronomy 6:4).

They are wrong. There is no such thing as becoming gods in the HOLY BIBLE. I believe that is in their wrong doctrine that they get from the book of Mormon.
