2 Timothy is my favorite book for discussions about Christian living.
The theme of 2 Timothy is well expressed in 2Ti_2:15 : “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” In contrast to 1 Timothy, where collective, congregational conduct is emphasized, here individual responsibility and behavior are prominent. This theme may be stated as “Individual Responsibility in a Time of Collective Failure.”
There is much collective failure in the professing church in this Letter. There has been great departure from the faith and from the truth. How does this affect the individual believer? Is he excused from seeking to hold to the truth and live a godly life? The answer of 2 Timothy is a decided No! “Be diligent to present yourself approved ... .”

There is the sermon by Jesus in Matthew, and the epistles to Timothy are good, but actually I would read the whole New Testament instead of just part of it. Also you could check with a book store for modern applications of Biblical principles. There should be many books like that.
Decide for yourself what's right or wrong, with nothing to base it on? That doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Try that when you are driving a car and you might get a few tickets.

The book of 1 John is a very good guide as to how Christians should be following Jesus.

The New Testament will cover anything that troubles you, but sometimes it is hard to locate what you need. I would recommend a book by Swindoll, "So you want to be a Christian." I would also recommend reading the Bible both morning and night, using a verse pack, writing in a spiritual journal, studying with other Christians.

Why do you have to read Paul's writings? Just look at how Jesus acted and copy. You're a Christian, as in Jesus Christ, right? So why copy Paul's ideas?
Edit: I know, but why would you consider looking to Romans?

You should visit your local Family Booksellers or some such. I'm sure there's one in your area and ask for help there. For the Bible, how COULD anyone single out a single book? I mean, you've got how TO live, how NOT to live, what to strive to live like, what to avoid...That's why it's all important.

I thought Christ himself told you what to do. (1) Love God (2) Love your neighbour as yourself. The vast number of so-called Christians who ignore the second commandment has me wondering how they can possibly obey the first. I do know some good Christians whose lives are marked by love and tolerance but, alas, there are far too few of them.

The only thing you need to know was given us by Jesus when He said to "Love God with all of your heart, mind and strength and to Love your neighbor as yourself". Anything that goes against the law of Love is a sin.

THERE ARE CATHOLICS,BAPTISTS,PROTESTANTS AND SO ON. BUT ALAS,THERE ARE NO CHRISTIANS. WHEN YOU CAN SEE,TALK WITH AND RECIEVE GUIDANCE FROM JESUS HIMSELF WHO BECAME THE CHRIST ONLY THEN YOU WILL BECOME A CHRIST-IAN,MEANING BELONGING TO REAL CHRIST,NOT TO AN IMAGINARY ONE. REMEMBER,HE SAID: I AM ALWAYS WITH YOU. BEFORE THAT ALL IS BLIND FAITH OF THE IGNORANT MASSES EXPLOITED BY THE CLERGY OF ALL RELIGIONS.SEE AND ONLY THEN ACCEPT, DO NOT ACCEPT JUST BECAUSE OTHERS TELL YOU TO DO SO.BELIEVING MEANS RELIEVING OF THE SUFFERING,NOT CURING IT.SEEING MEANS UPROOTING THE SUFFERING FROM ITS VERY ROOTS NEVER TO BOTHER AGAIN.THERE IS NO BEST BOOK THAN A LIVING GODMAN OF YOUR OWN TIMES.HE WILL KNOW EVERY THING.YOU CAN READ BOOKS BUT CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND THEIR TRUE MEANING.WHAT IS THE CONDITION OF THE PRESENT WORLD WITH MILLIONS OF HOLY BOOKS BEIND READ ALOUD FROM CHURCHES AND MOSQUES? YES,YOU CAN SEE,MEET AND TALK TO CHRIST EVEN TODAY.DO NOT DOUBT THIS.gfr.
