Not really sure what I'm asking here, but yeah, anyway. Basically, I've had a bad childhood with my bipolar abusive alcoholic dad which I still haven't gotten over. I self-injure, I have an eating disorder, I'm so incredibly depressed it's unreal, and I have suicidal thoughts (but I won't do anything - they're just thoughts).

Um, so I'll stop complaining now, but I really just feel like so out of it. I don't know what to do. I feel so horrible everyday. I still live with my mom and she knows all this, but she doesn't really care. I just don't know what to do.

What would you guys do in my position?

Well, thoughts may be just thoughts at the moment, but they can manifest. Talk to a counselor. That's what they are there for. They've halped me through a lot and by law cannot share what you say to anyone else.

I'd seek professional help. There are depression meds to help balance out chemicals in the brain that will help you get back on track. It's not shameful to take the meds either. Why not get yourself to a place that is healthy and happy. If the meds can get you there -- do it!!

Also, seek advice from someone you do trust and hold high regards for their opinions. You do need to talk about this. Keeping it all bottled up will never let you heal. Tell your mother you would like to seek a counseler for help. It isn't fair you should feel like this and if no one is willing to help you, you must take the first steps all by yourself!!! There are tons of people that can help you....please seek the help before you do anything drastic. Self injuring is NO GOOD!! It is NOT your fault you've had this horrific upbringing so quit blaming yourself!!!

You deserve BETTER!!!

Hi Ashley. Find someone you can talk to on a regular basis about all these issues. A school counselor, a professional therapist, a minister at church, an adult family member (e.g. aunt, uncle, grandparent, etc.).

It is important to understand that you are not alone in dealing with these types of issues. Many, many others have faced and overcome the same kinds of problems.

Best wishes and good luck.

Your question caught my attention. Of course, professional help would be my best advice but i get the feeling u want some different advice. however, especially in your situation, u dont want to listen to any weirdo that happens to read ur question and gives a stupid answer.

try focusing your attention on something outside of yourself. When u try to help other people with their problems, u forget about ur own. u might also try seeking understanding in the spiritual side. I happen to believe in God but if that's not your thing u dont have to believe that exactly. Just believing in a bigger picture helps u see everything, including yourself, differently.

It sounds like you have to get some support for yourself. If not from your family or friends then maybe a counselor. They really do help. I have needed them in the past and they really can help you work through things and they also can advise you if there is a need for further intervention. They help you see things differently and sometimes just talking helps. Please get some help and don't feel embarassed about it. Everyone needs help at some point in their life, the smart ones are the ones who get it.

Seek help, whether it be moving to a better more caring home or a psychiatrist. But try to find what is best for you and what will make you happy. You seem like a nice girl and you definately deserve a better home. My thoughts are with you.

You have school counselors and a school nurse talk with them as they can get you the help you need. Are you sure your mother does not care? She also may be stressed out and you both need help. I am presuming you are still in school or college.

Get some counselling for your bad thoughts. Its okay to complain. If you are old enough I would suggest you move out of home to start a new life.

if you don't like the idea of seeing a psychiatrist or a therapist, think about joining a support group.

Also, remember that depending on your age and where you live, your mom might not have any rights to info on your condition or treatment ... in case you're concerned about that
