I did believe. I was a pretty devout Christian. I wish I still were in some respects, because it felt good to belong to a group where you felt there actually was more to life than just this. However, I am now an atheist, because no, it doesn't make sense. One day I REALLY questioned it all, despite the "never question things" mentality of the religion... and being honest with myself, I realized it made no sense at all.
I wouldn't take it back, because you don't go back after you've been de-hypnotized. That's what I feel like it was... like a life long hypnotism that started the day I was born, and lasted years and years. It was probably the most significant day I can remember. It was like *snap* and suddenly everything became clear to me.

Of course I believe in God. I have questioned my faith many times. Every time I have found I am believing the right things. Some things I believe take me a while to get. Yes, what I believe in makes sense!

Yes I believe in God, yes I have questioned my faith several times and I now believe in God and not in what men have made up to lead every one on the same path. I believe that the Bible is certainly not true from a to z, that Jesus was a man, extraordinary, but still a man and that he had a life like all other men did with a wife and children, and yes, what I now believe in makes complete sense to me and I'm much more comfortable with it all.

You’ve hit upon one of the many contradictions about religion in general. As an atheist, I view belief in a supernatural power as non-reasonable. It is a mystery to me why, 300 years after the Renaissance and the Reformation, a vast majority do not believe in evolution, and still cling to the belief that the Earth was created 6000 years ago.
This is in the US, which one would presume that scientific reality and reason would be most observed.
Of course, the great draw of religion is comfort, both during trying times and the irrational belief that someone is inferior because they believe something different than another.
Take a look at Sam Harris’ “Letter to a Christian Nation” for more insight. A much shorter version of some of the themes in that book can be found in Sam Harris’ “Atheist Manifesto,” which you can Google. One his main themes is that atheism is not a philosophy or a doctrine, but just a refusal to deny the obvious.

YES!!! I think most people at one time in their lives have questioned their faith. yes I do believe it makes sense. I have seen God work in my life and others lives several times.I actually feel bad for others that done believe. what a sad sad life it must be to think that this is it and they will be dust and gone.

I do not believe in god. I questioned that for about one half minute before sobering up. Yep, the stuff I believe makes sense to me. I am completely confident in my faith in natural processes, basic human love, and your freedom to ask that question.

I believe that God exists, I came to that belief by constantly questioning my beliefs, and I will continue to do so until it all makes sense.
