Should hunters then, by their logic, help to remedy the human overpopulation problems here by commiting suicide?

I'm not looking for a fight; I'm just using the same logic that hunters use against them.

Why do non-hunters try to justify allowing animals to overgraze in an attempt to "live and let live"?

Using the logic that hunters are limiting the population, and should, therefore commit suicide, is ILLOGICAL. There are not enough hunters to make a difference on the human population. HOWEVER, if they would declare open season on criminals (catch and release program *EG*), then we could make a difference in the population program.

Of course, we also have wars, which is human nature, and is a form of population control.

To Grant E and Mac133: Thank you. (Grant, I can't help myself, because he's referring to a previous answer I gave.)

To Putz #1: Humans and animals are not on the same moral plane. If you're one of the idiots that thinks an animal's life has the same value as a human's, then go read the part of Genesis that says that man shall rule over all the earth. Here's a link for you, since you apparently can't look things up on your own:

That means that animal overpopulation and human population may not be dealt with the same way. We're helping PREVENT overpopulation by hunting (although that's not the only reason we do). People have a greater capacity than do animals -- for reason, memory, problem-solving, blah, blah. We were blessed with this so we can figure out out to fix problems. We've screwed up the natural order of things so bad that hunting is almost required to control overpopulation.

And not all hunters justify what they do by citing overpopulation: your previous rant was about people who hunt "for fun." That, in itself, is a misguided way to ask a question. We hunt for lots of reasons that you wouldn't understand. If you really want a list, search -- the reasons have been given a thousand times.

And here's a suggestion as to how to remedy overpopulation of humans: stop breeding (either that or we could start hunting your ***!). Educate people, provide birth control to those that can't afford/access it, etc.

PS: Grant E was right -- you need to get a life and quit picking fights. If you really want answers and not smart-*** responses, ask better questions. And another thought: GO AWAY!!

when a species becomes overpopulated, it can have an even more devastating effect on the long term population due to over feeding. this is not a problem caused solely by hunting. human presence in the animals habitat greatly reduces the number of natural predators, which are much less densely populated than a hunted species, so there is no natural check for these populations. as long as hunting is heavily managed, it can be beneficial for the species. it is not those who hunt legally that contribute to the decline of a population but those who poach.

Your "logic" is flawed and twisted. First, hunters do not use overpopulation an excuse for hunting, that is a game management argument. Hunters, through their various advocacy groups, have done more to protect and provide habitat for animals than pompous, self righteous air heads like you have.
Keep in mind that animals do not commit suicide, hunters kill animals. Therefore, to use your twisted logic, the answer to overpopulation of the human race is to have hunters, hunt non-productive people like you. That won't happen, of course. You are not fit to eat; you'd make a poor trophy, and, fortunately, there are not enough you to qualify for pest control.

The real problem is that years ago we as humans devastated the predators to these animals. Thus, many have no counter-balance in nature. Think about it, we've nearly wiped out populations of wolves, cougars, mountain lions, etc. These are all animals that kept the populations of deer, turkey and other assorted wildlife in check. Remove the predator and the wildlife is left without limits.

Due to this, we have to create an artificial predator so that the species does not over crowd itself. That artificial predator is/are hunters. Overcrowding of a species is detrimental to the species itself, other widlife species, wildlands, and so forth.

That is the reason that hunting is legal and justified. The reason as to each person hunting as an individual varies greatly.

Because many animals are overpopulated. God said it is our job to manage the earth, even saying we should "subdue" the beasts of the earth. If you are afraid to do what God told us to do, at least stay out of the way while we do it.
As for humans being overpopulated, if you really believe this to be so then help by eliminating yourself. You are a sick man, not the Christian you pretend to be.

We don't have to justify hunting. We just try to be delicate with the timid and self righteous. I hunt because I like to kill and eat what I kill. The difference is, someone else didn't kill it and wrap it for me to buy, so I can say my hands are clean. I am a dominate male, we are the defenders and providers. What I can't understand is why you concern yourself with something that has always been, and is natural. Worry about those that kill humans. Even wild animals don't kill their unborn babies, so they won't be bothered with them. How about those that kill someone for their money. Oh yea, that's the gun's fault. You got me started, I'll shut up now. I have to go to work and earn money to buy some dead chickens, cows, fish, pigs. That way someone else can go to work killing and butchering them for me.

no, my friend, you are using psuedo logic. if you are the christian you claim to be you should know that god gave man dominion over animals. i don't hunt them simply because of population control, which is a benefit to them as well as society, but because i like to eat them, probaly like you like to eat beef or chicken. so, why don't you try to use some good ol' common sense instead of psudeo logic and reasoning. are you taking a logic class or something??

Condoms are a good way to help control human overpopulation, in fact, I wish your dad would have used one.

No, by hunters logic, we shoot shoot your type to help remedy the over population of the world. That would free up more land for the animals.
