My heater and A/c control. only put out air in the 2nd and 4 position. and after a few moments on high regardless of what setting i have the discharge on.. it starts to only come out at the floor and at the def on the edges of the dash towards the side windows. NOT out of the main defost vent.. Any ideas of whats wrong and how to fix it?

definitely a resistor problem for the fan speed, but the mode door issue THAT gets to be a lot of fun, id just a bout bet that is a cable controlled selector, look in a book and confirm this, then fallow the diagrams out to the ends and verify that everything is where it needs to be.

i've gotta '97 and i'm pretty sure the fans require a staged resistor on the 99's as well. basically thats all your problem is. change the resistor mounted to the back of the fan motor. inside the cab. drivers side in us. there about $10 second hand in oz so i can't see it costing you in more in the us.

Need a new fan motor and clean out the a/c drain could also need an evaporator
