I'd like to get Invisalign, and I have Metlife Dental that covers 60% of orthodontic services, and that would include Invisalign because it would count as braces, but the question is, is there a difference when Invisalign is offered through a dentist or an orthodontist? I heard that dentists may charge less, but it's just what I heard. There's 1 dentist and 1 orthodontist that provide Invisalign in my area, so should I go to both places to have them look at my teeth to see how much it would cost? (Well, if I am an eligible candidate for Invisalign.) I have 12 crowding teeth, 6 on the top, and 6 on the bottom, all in the front and my canine teeth stick out like vampire teeth. So if you can answer, please help! Any dentists or orthodontists? Help?

I recently attended a conference of Invisalign providers from all over the US. From what I was able to observe, general dentists charge less for Invisalign than orthodontists.
That's true of most procedures - root canal, oral surgery, periodontal treatment, etc. Specialists charge more than general dentists.
Some - and you must do your research - general dentists do just as good a job as specialists. They must be experienced and humble enough to know when they are in over their heads. A good general dentist will be able to admit that they need to refer out some cases to specialists if they feel the results will be better.
My advice would be to make appointments at both places. Let them know up front that you don't want records taken, just a consultation meet and greet. They should do that for you at no charge.
Get a feel for the level of experience in both places and ask what a "limited" and "full case" Invisalign would cost. (You won't know which will give you results until you pay for records, but it will give you a ball park estimate.)
It's my opinion that general dentists will consider more options than a specialist. Maybe Invisalign is not what you need and your goals could be accomplished some other way. Orthodontists are trained to think "teeth movement" and some of them don't look beyond that.

I would suggest to have an orthodontist do your teeth because they are more specialized in that. When i got my braces on last year, my dentist recommended veneers instead which i disagreed with. Also, you have to stay on top of it with invisalign... Just because you cant see it doesn't mean that you will get the full result. You may forget to replace them every 2 wks and that will mess things up. Just a suggestion for ya... Usually if you are a good candidate for invisalign than the braces wont take long either... Have fun with whatever you chose to do.

The invisalign cost in Melbourne will be a bit different from your state. It actually looks like you will be needing this kind of teeth solution in order to resolve your teeth problem.

AS A GENERAL DENTIST I CHARGE A FEE THAT'S LOWER THAN AN ORTHODONTIST.
