Because the whining democrats at home do everything possible to thwart the war effort. Imagine the impact if EVERYONE supported the war and backed the president, encouraging him. What we need to do is fight the war despite the words against it. Because if we don't, we'll be fighting it here in the US (but aren't we already?).

The enemy is willing to die and use materials that aren't that sophisticated. Iraq is very unlikely to unite considering the cultural differences that exist. It never should have been made a country in the first place. For the best chance of success the country of Iraq should be divided into three. The Kurds, the Sunnis and the Shiites should each be given separate areas to reside. The oil resources should be divided amongst the individuals like shares of a company. The army should withdrawal slowly. But, any hope of a democracy surviving in Iraq with three religions, three cultures and forces from other countries, such as Syria and Iran, is hopeless. The people in Iraq will fight us for decades under current conditions. It's really similar to Vietnam as that was a civil war as well being funded by the US and China. Iraq is the remnant of imperialism.

Foe almost twenty years the experts have been telling the Army that they have wonderful high tech Armoured Units and great Airborne Units, but they lack the heavy infantry to hold what they have taken. Normally those would have been National guard and Reserve Units but the Army let them fall way off.
It was just fortunate the Marines could be put into the breach.
That "insurgent" with an AK 47 is still a booger to catch.

We can't win because it is impossible to fight an enemy you cannot identify. You don't know who is friend or foe. You don't know if that little kid coming at you wants a candy bar or wants to blow you to kingdom come with a bomb strapped around his waste.
You can't win a war where the majority of the people in the country don't want you there. There is no "win" in Iraq. Not for our troops.
That's why they need to come home.

When the news media only shows the bad things that happen, and there will be bad things in a war, it gives the feeling that we are losing and we can't win.
Remember this:
1. We haven't lost any battles against either Saddam's Army or the insurgents.
2. Our loss rate is waaay lower than any other war we've been in, yet the 'people' don't have the stomach to stay with it until we help establish the Iraqi government.
I'm glad the American citizens of today weren't around in December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge, or they would have marched for us to pull our troops out, 5 months before Germany surrendered!

properly, the present US military would fully break the navies of WWII, leaving the WWII international no longer able to transport or pass factors and uncooked factors, and additionally incapable of shifting squaddies distant places. This additionally helps the present US to place in its troops whilst and the place it pleases, making waiting a great strike to crush and break each and every opponent one with the help of one till the WWII international surrenders. Granted, i'm no longer precisely particular how WWII u . s . and in the present day's u . s . can coexist, provided that they proportion the comparable geography.

Because we are trying to do the right thing and not harm innocents. And the war is starting to turn almost like Vietnam. We dont know exactly who are enemy is. Civilians are picking up arms against us. Some are very supportive of are efforts, but others aren't. So its starting to turn into a bunch of factions against us. Kinda like a bunch of mobs. So its not just one enemy were fighting.

We are losing in Iraq for exactly the same reasons we lost in Vietnam:
1) You can't compare the motivation and willpower of invaders (the US) against people defending their home country.
2) You can't win a war against a guerrila insurgency.

Well that speaks to the strategic skill of the people in charge of the military. I guess that you can only assume that the military is not a blunt object for indiscriminately pounding a nation into dust.

WE ARE WINNING THE WAR! The media seldom reports our successes in Iraq because it is controlled by liberals who are afrait that perhaps we are succeeding. The only way to garentee failure is to give up. In the last 4 years, we have killed more terrorists than you could imagine. We have crippled their ability to sustain a war and are finishing off the insurgents who remain. It is a long process.
