okay i just got vista on my laptop. not sure how i like it so far. More and more i find things are not the same. i just added some new tunes to my itunes. so i thought i would up date my ipod. I plug my ipod into my pc and it states:

"attempting to copy to the disc "ipod name" failed. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation. Itunes could not save to your music folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your Music folder and folders in your music folder, then try copying this file again.

i attempted to fix this by "sharing" everything. it did not work. i am at a loss and hate vista. I am the only one using this flippin laptop and don't need this protection! if anybody has some some step by step for me that would be awesome.

thanks in advance!

ITunes doesn't work properly on Vista. Apple is trying to fix it.

Check the iTunes site frequently for the bug fix.

Be patient, it should work eventually.

First of all, take a step back and take a deep breath. The protection you speak of is built-in for your own benefit. Please understand that.

With that said, if you absolutely must have full control over all files, go into your Control Panel, Windows Users and edit your user and give it Administrative Rights. Also, on the left, click on 'Turn user Access Control Off.'

While I don't use and never will because it's an Apple product, I assure you that ITunes does work on Windows Vista. You need to go to their web site and download the absolute latest version. The latest version is 7.1.1. See link below to download it.

You'll also need to download an update from Windows Vista to get it fully working. Go into your Control Panel, Windows Updates and download all the updates (other than the extra languages, of course).

Restart your computer and you should be good to go.
