Cardio is different than strength training. Cardio is basically heart training, which means getting your heart rate up to a high enough rate that it is working out.

Cardio is things like jump rope, treadmill, bicycling, eliptical, stair stepper. Sports like basketball, soccer, tennis. What you need is to get on a machine that shows you a target heart rate and you have to go fast enough to stay in that target range (which is a fairly rapid pace).

The machines in the circuit are for strength training. That is important as well for tone and definition but the weight loss comes from the cardio.

A clear indicator is if you aren't sweaty you didn't do enough cardio. Hope this was a simple explanation.

Cardio classes work best - they are intense & guided by a trainner. Find a gym with cardio-strength trainning classes like yoga, kick boxing, and diet is most important for losing weight - spicey foods if you can handle it, lots of cold water, eating 5 small balanced meals a day. Good luck.
