Youve kinda got it. We were created for worship, and we were given free will, but we were also given faith, something the angels did not get. They KNOW God exists, they have no need to have faith.
And the fallen angels did not choose not to worship, Satan, and the angels that fell with him were not cast out because they would not worship, or did not believe, they were thrown out because they were vain, and prideful, thinking themselves greater than God.
Feel free to email me, if my explanation was confusing, I'll try to clear it up for you!

Before He created Man, God created the Angels. He gave them intellect and free will also. He created them to share with Him the joy of Heaven and so invited them to choose to do so. Satan was one of the Archangels. He is also called Lucifer, because he was the lightbearer, a highly honoured position. Satan made an irrevocable choice to reject Heaven and took many other angels with them to Hell.
"[The Red Dragon's] tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth." (Rev 12:4)
"I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky." (Luke 10:18)
"The angels too, who did not keep to their own domain but deserted their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains, in gloom, for the judgment of the great day." (Jude 6)
Hope that helps.
Cheers :-)

Basically, angels are those who were and are of this earth that serve as messengers of God. Many of the righteous persons having made the transition from this mortal plane to live in paradise exist as angels. There are five categories of angels.
1.Pre-existent Spirits, i.e., “Michael and his angels fought against the dragon” before men were first placed on earth.
2.Translated Beings. Many righteous persons in the early days of the earth’s history were translated. (Inspired Version, Gen. 14:26-36.)
3.Spirits of Just Men Made Perfect. (Heb. 12:22-24.) These are the spirits of men who have worked out their salvation, but are waiting the day of the resurrection.
4.Resurrected Personages. (Matt. 27:52-53.) Many instances of ministration by resurrected angels have occurred since the coming forth of our Lord from the tomb.
5.Righteous Mortal Men. (Gen. 19.) In this account these angels are called “men” and the wicked inhabitants of Sodom so considered them.
Angels shall minister for God through the eternities and cannot progress further than their station. They live in the presence of God and the Son, but stand by to do His bidding.

In the beginning God created the heavens also. there was a high archy of angels. These angels at the time had their own powers given to them in portion. ( Not in full ) Lucifer was on of the powerful ones. He began to see himself as worthy of worship and greatness apart from God. He began to have a following of other angels. God saw this and cast him and his followers out at that time.
God made man in his image but allowed free will for man to choose God's ways or sin full ways of Lucifer. Lucifer vowed to get all man's souls. God made man to need Him to find contentment and true peace and a physical death that Lucifer didn't have to contend with. This gives God great Glory and worship when we cross our own nature, circumstances, and tangible proof that unbelievers seek to praise His name.

If you a christian then you should know that DIVINE things should remain for divine expoisition. We believe the word of God as it is in the Bible and any other wordly reasoning is balderash. The same way you cannot tell who made the move between your Dad and Mum the night they made love and concieve you ,if same way we do not know what happened in Heavenly places and it is absurd to make joke about it.Also same way you do not know what happens while you are asleep, you cannot know what happened in Heaven between Angels and Cherubim.Stop looking for answers but concentrate on making heaven

First of all, Angels where given "free will".
That's why the Devil fell out of grace with God, he was jealous, and refused to worship him...We where created in God's image & we where given "free will" by God, to do as we wished...Its up to us to decide for ourselves if we want to worship him or not...I am a Christian, so I do worship him &
know that God Is my Lord & Savior...

No, Angels do have free will. As you mentioned-some chose to follow Satan. Angels live for ever. Those that were going to rebel did so long ago.
Who really knows why we were created?

I think that religion has a lot of gaps due to the lack of correct interpretation, the bible is full of symbols and metaphors and it should not be taken literally, therefore, the answer to this question will vary greatly, which means that you will never get a concrete correct answer for this question because the Bible hasn't been 100 percent correclty interpreted.

Identification with Satan
Many modern Christians have followed tradition and equated Lucifer with Satan, or the Devil. A parallel description of Lucifer's fall is found in Ezekiel chapter 28 "A Prophecy Against the King of Tyre", which contains a lament over an "anointed cherub" who was in the "holy mountain of God". He is described as "perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee." The passage goes on to describe this being's expulsion from the "mount of God", apparently because his "heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness." Afterwards the passage describes the eventual fate of this corrupted cherub: "therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."
In addition to Isaiah, Ezekiel, Job (in which Satan appears but his origin and purpose are not stated), and various Old Testament scriptures referring to occult powers such as witchcraft, more theological details about fallen angels can be found in the Pseudepigrapha, which are generally not considered canon.

You seem to have it right to me but I understand it as Angels have free will, for that is how Lucifer fell in the first place. He "choose" to no longer worship G_D.
Plus imagine being before G_D and having free will....would you choose not to worship Him?
