Judges 1:19

The end of Israel, Judea and all of the boasting about their mighty God.

And all because the surrounding nations learned to smelt iron.

Amazing difference in the tone of the Bible, before and after this passage.

It's amazing that Christians turn to explanations from Harry Potter to justify the downfall of Israel.

They fell behind, technologically.

Why?

They listened to their 'God' (Priests claiming to be representatives of some invisible bogeyman).

The lesson to learn from the Bible is........God is no match for iron........or a nuclear warhead.

I think its because God doesn't care about war.

People tend to be the ones that care about war.

From the way I understand it God ultimately wants humanity to live in right relationship with one another and with God.

We truly never can answer the reason that "bad" things happen to "good" people and anyone in general. Life is random sometimes and we can't blame God when something horrible happens. Well we can and we do-I just think it's not particularly helpful to do so.

I am not sure about the date on the exile-was 722 the Assyrian exile and 587 the Babylonian Exile? Israel typically got in trouble because they acted like assholes-same is true today.

anyways-sounds like you're really filled with hatred and rage against people of faith. Sorry you've had such a negative experience with them-only God can save us from God's followers-some of us aren't that bad-some are-just like any group.

Peace,
Dwight

God helped the surrounding nations because the Israelites did not obey God. (See the Book of Jeremiah)

You should read the whole book of Judges before you make conclusions. God turned against the Israelites because of her idolatry.

God has often used heathen and pagan nations to fulfill His purposes. He used the Assyrians and Babylonians to bring Israel into exile and judgment for their sin, idolatry, and apostasy. He used them to bring His people to repentance. But God is no respecter of persons or nations. Any person or nation who turns to Him in faith receives forgiveness and mercy. God even used the wicked line of Cain to develop things. (Genesis 5). God then used the Jewish religious leaders to "judge" His Son with the Gentiles so that all can come to Him in faith. Romans 1:16 - "for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it the power of God to salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek."

If you ever read your Bible ,you will understand that so many times tide turn against Isreal ,not because of the military strenght of thier enemies but because they sinned against God.so no iron or armaments fashioned against the people of God will stand ,unless they sinned and God abandoned them for them to repend and seek his face
