Exercise a few hours before bed, take a shower before you sleep, try reading a book (that puts me to sleep) If you have lots of different thoughts running through your mind, try writing your thoughts down, or talking with someone. Or try drinking some warm milk before you sleep.

Excersise before bed, but not too soon b4 bedtime. Like at 8pm go for a long walk, or to the gym, and then hit the sack at 11. You'll sleep well with a tired body.

Read for 15-30 minutes before you go to bed.
Make sure the room is dark.
Sometimes it helps to get an ice pack (one of the bean/rice filled ones) and put it over your eyes.
Do you have any pets? Sleeping with a cat or dog curled next to you can help with the loneliness.

Take a nice warm shower. put some low soothing music, make sure the room is dark. empty your mind and close your eyes and get ready for some ZZZZZZZZZZ.

make sure the room is completely dark, no flashing alarm clock lights, read a book and wear comfortable clothes, i usually go nakey.
