I had just bought a new 2007 Hyundai Elantra. I have only had it for 2 weeks and it already requires major mechanical fixes. When I brought up the supposed 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty, the people at the dealerships just laughed in my face. What can I do to warn people not to buy hyundai cars, since they should learn from my experience with this brand?

Please, can you stop lying about what really happened. Do you really expect anyone to believe that you bought a new car and 2 weeks later it required major repairs that the warranty wouldn't cover? Even if the dealership did turn you away all you had to do was call the Hyundai customer service number and they would take care of you.

So, what you can do is stop posting your lies and defamation of one of the best brands of car on the road. Now go ahead and post how everyone should buy an American V8 car make of real steel....we're waiting....

I drove a 2002 Hyundai Accent for 5 years. It was a great little car, fairly reliable.. Had a few problems with it like it used oil.. if i waited the specified time for my next oil change there would be nothing left! so i had to top up the oil all the time which was annoying. They couldn't find anything wrong with it either so I basically just had to put up with it. Also had a few problems with quality.. The drivers side door handle broke under normal usage- had to climb in through the passenger side until it was replaced.. The lock on the trunk was sticky.. took a few tries to unlock.. just little things like that. It was enough that when it came time to replacing I looked elsewhere and eventually bought a German VW. I think that Hyundai has gotten a lot better over the years, so by now I think that the quality is more up to par. I wouldn't persuade OR dissuade anyone from buying one.. but for me I'm happy driving something else.

Don't know, but if you do find out please let me know. Just had a round today with the Hyundai factory rep. The local dealer has not solved the problem. Now the factory rep basically gave the same ole answer "Cannot duplicate the problem." Bring it back if you have more problems. We have a problem with a Gas smell inside the vehicle. That was the problem today. Enough to make me sick on the way to the dealership. The factory rep and the dealership could smell it today. But we got the same old line. The factory rep refused to give me in writing that they smelled the odor of gasoline or exhaust fumes. Absolutely refused. This isn't the first problem that Hyundai has not solved. So I agree with the original question. How do you get results from a Hyundai dealership or the Hyundai reps??? They did check it out for leaks, but did not find the problem, so the odor was there but they refused to acknowledge it. This Hyundai has been in the shop more than anyone could imagine. So what good is the 100,000 warranty if the dealership and factory reps "cannot duplicate the problem" when they definitely smelled the odor??

Sound like you are not telling all of the story or something is wrong with the dealer. I have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon that now has 43,000 miles on it and any problems with it have been taken care of by dealer without any problem. I have several other cars and the Hyundai is the best built of all of them. (I have Fords and Chevy) I drive a car harder than mot people ( will not hesitate to red line the tact) and the car is standing up very well. As I don't need it for any major transportation I drive the car hard just to see how well it is and must say I have no complaints about it. I would not hesitate to buy another Hyundai and know several people who has one and are not having any problems. They are not cheaply made and will tell you they very safe in an accident. Mine was rear ended, pushed int another car and no one was injured. ( and it was not just a bump)

Hyundai had no different then any made in USA car, Quality are depend on buyer's luck.

1) under warranty you will get fix for free. but you want those warranty go 10/100,000 !! you will have to do all service in the dealership, otherwise 3 year 36000mile that's it.

2) those serviceman at dealership laughed at you, don't feel bad because all service man at dealership are asshole not only at Hyundai.

3) I own a " 2005 Santafe "so far so good enjoy it every day

new clutch? that sounds like you were too rough on it.

my hyundai is great. no problems and the dealer has been good too. Heck, I go in and have them wash and wax my car for free, along with the regular oil changes and stuff.

I really don't believe for a minute that people in a dealership would laugh in your face. On a low-class, used car lot with a trailer for an office....yes. A Hyundai dealership? No way.

Sorry partner,
But you are wrong sir....In this case it is most likely the driver's fault. You don't know alot about cars do you? Every manufactuer has cars that are not perfect as well not just the one you bought.
I do appoligize for the way that you feel, but I drive a Volkswagen passat and I have had more problems with my car then any other car that I have ever owned. My son has a Kia Rio brand new 2006 and has Zero problems with this car (Hyundai owns 51% of Kia) and I know he does not know how to drive, I personally know he drives that car hard still no problems.
If you are truly having a problem contact the 1-800 number on youor drivers side window (customer service) and they will take good care of you I promise.

You can take it to any Hyundai dealer for warranty work, so try another. Then call Hyundai head quarters and report the dealership you dealt with.

sorry to hear about your hyundai but we have had alot of luck with the ones we have owned. the first one was a 1988 excel that had over 200,000 miles when it was totaled by a red-light runner. Our 2003 had 60,000 miles on it when I passed it on to one of our kids-still going. our 2005 elantra has 55,000 miles-no problems. my mom had a honda that you could classify as a lemon-nothing but problems. I still think honda and hyundai make good cars but you will find lemons .]in every brand. I do not blame the car I think it was the driver. I would probably laugh at you, too.

This thread is the most energized synergistic group, mostly loving the vehicle they bought. Now that we have figured out that this whole story is a hoax, [14 days and needs a clutch & cam belt?] what do we talk about now?
