I don't know. I have also asked about this passage, and what I've been told is that it must be taken in the context of the religious leaders accusing Jesus of using the power of the devil to do His miracles. The apparent consensus is that this means that attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan is the unpardonable sin. Others take it a tad farther and say that it means simply not recognizing Jesus as the Christ and accepting His free gift of eternal life. I can see how someone could arrive at that interpretation, but the part about "whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost," seems to me to mean that even saying something negative about the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin. That doesn't quite fit in with the gospel though. I have never, ever found a teacher who would expound on the "speaketh against" part except by referring back to the first part. Lots of room for fear and trembling there.

Yes.
"'blasphemy' does not properly consist in offending against the Holy Spirit in words; it consists rather in the refusal to accept the salvation which God offers to man through the Holy Spirit, working through the power of the Cross. If man rejects the 'convincing concerning sin' which comes from the Holy Spirit and which has the power to save, he also rejects the 'coming' of the Counsellor . . . If Jesus says that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven either in this life or in the next, it is because this 'non-forgiveness' is linked, as to its cause, to 'non-repentance', in other words to the radical refusal to be converted. . . . Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, then, is the sin committed by the person who claims to have a 'right' to persist in evil—in any sin at all . . ."
Cheers :-)

the basically perfect blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is very final melancholy on the very final 2d of existence. All different sins against the Holy Ghost are forgivable as much as that factor. hence, all sins against God might desire to be prevented regardless no count if that's particularly against the Holy Spirit.

It means that you have felt and know for a fact that the Holy Ghost has "spoken" to you, but then you turn around and say that the Holy Ghost, or even God, isn't real, and that you don't believe that They can talk to you. It's pretty much like you turn away from the feelings you get, and then tell everyone that it never happened or that you don't believe.

When someone is blaspheming the Holy Ghost, calling God evil. Person isn't respecting God, isn't humblins self before God, is mocking God. Person isn't getting any forgiveness while blaspheming the Holy Ghost.
People who have rejected Christ, will blaspheme the Holy Spirit when they mock God. But they are usually spiritually blinded. I have seen it with my own eyes. But that person could come to their senses anytime & repent to God. Humble himself before God & repent for not believing in Jesus Christ, and confess Jesus Christ Lord & Savior of his life. Receiving His redeeming Blood & believe in his heart Jesus raised from the dead.
The Pharasees were accusing the Healing Power of the Holy Ghost of being baalzebub, Lords of the flies. They weren't repentant before God. They were calling the power of God evil.
I believe there is never forgiveness when one is blaspheming the Holy Ghost. But when one realizes the Truth & repents & humbles self before God, receiving Gods redeeming Grace, then is forgiven.
If a Christian criticizes another Christian operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, that critical Christian will be disciplined by God quickly.

Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. Jesus sent the Comforter to us to testify of himself (Jesus), Blapheming of the Holy Ghost is rejecting His message. That message is that Jesus died for our sin and if we accept him we can have life.

The Holy Spirit leads us to repentance. If we choose not to follow God's leading to repentance there is no hope for us. One day that voice will no longer be calling us and we will be lost of our own accord, not because of the lack of God trying to lead us to right.
