you can interpret the Bible for yourselves, because the Holy Spirit is guiding you, yet you all come up with different interpretations? Is that what the Holy Spirit intended- confusion?

Did Jesus Christ with His own mouth instruct any of His disciples to "write down" any of His teachings? No. With the exception of the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse) by St. John the Apostle, Jesus Christ gives no such instructions to any of His disciples or Apostles. In fact, only the Apostles Peter, John, James, Jude and Matthew were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write Scripture. Why were the other seven not inspired of the Holy Spirit to "write" if the "written" Word of God is the only authority to be followed in the Christian religion?

Is private interpretation of the Bible condoned in the Bible Itself? No, it is not (2 Peter 1:20). Was individual interpretation of Scripture practiced by the early Christians or the Jews? Again, No (Acts 8:29-35). The assertion that individuals can correctly interpret Scripture is false. Even the "founder" of Sola Scriptura (Martin Luther), near the end of his life, was afraid that "any milkmaid who could read" would found a new Christian denomination based on his or her "interpretation" of the Bible. Luther opened a "Pandora's Box" when he insisted that the Bible could be interpreted by individuals and that It is the sole authority of Christianity. Why do we have over 20,000 different non-Catholic Christian denominations? The reason is individuals' "different" interpretations of the Bible.

In conclusion, Scripture is pretty straightforward about the Church's role in salvation, Its authority and Its organization. It's all a matter of deductive reasoning, correct interpretation and pure logic.

Are you talking here in this cult-laden forum? Do you think you can figure that one out? We have two religions that made their own interpreted Bible to match their bogus doctrine, and one that adds other books to the Bible because they say it is corrupt. So what do you think? I hate to sound sarcastic, but this one is pretty obvious. I just had a user contact me and tell me that Rock & Roll are the locusts spoken of in Revelation 9! I mean really. So who is causing the confusion? Is it the Holy Spirit talking through him? I think we can use a little discernment and give that one a fat "no".

Do you think the Holy Spirit guides everyone who calls themself a Christian? Man and his puny religions cause confusion. Everyone I have met, all over the world, who have the Holy Spirit guiding their lives, we are always on the same page--even though we speak different languages.

Show me a Christian who believes by the authority of the scriptures that Jesus is God come in the flesh and by His blood we can be saved through His finished work on the cross, and I will show you someone I am on the same page with every time with absolutely NO confusion.

God is so big and infinite and so is His word. Man cannot put His word in a box. The bible can be use for encouragement, correction and rebuke. It is not for us to question how and what the Holy Spirit would speak to us; For He speaks to us differently: corporate, individual and personal. You will be assured in knowing that it is the Holy Spirit who leads them to such revelation IF the interpretation leads only to one point and that is the testimony of Jesus Christ (the glory of God), nothing else.

The Bible is like a crystal ball which has many facets on the surface. If there is black felt on one surface, as you turn the ball the inside seems to change colors because of the prism effect. It is still the same ball but from a different angle it looks different. Many times verses in the Bible will speak to you in a simple way. Later you realize the same verse also speaks of how you should interact with others. Still later you see how the same verse can relate to your relationship with God and man. It doesn't change but as you grow your insight grows as well.

I've seen the same thing happen when people read "The Lord of the Rings". On the first reading they appreciate one thing. On the next, the same chapter will be much more connected to the whole.

We are not confused, that is for the lost. We can find wisdom in understanding what we receive from others. The goal is to shed the differences and receive cleansing purity. This of course is only possible through Christ as given by our Father to the Holy Spirit.

We don't all think exactly the same and we all won't answer the exact same way! We are after all human. We do have one thing in common and that is our belief in God. It isn't confusion! If you were back in high school and you were to give a written answer in your own words would your words match exactly the same as a class mates? You both could be right yet answer a little differently.

That is the problem right there. People are interpreting the Bible for themselves. They are using their own understanding instead of letting the Holy Spirit show them what He wants them to know. Instead of reading the Bible and asking God to interpret it for us, we often try to limit His Word to our understanding. There is only one interpretation (God's). God only shows people what they are ready to know, and that depends on where you are in your walk with Him.

Yes. Each person gets a different interpretation or insight. Then we are supposed to share our insights and see if we can combine our interpretations into a common ideal or common interpretation. We are also supposed to learn from each others perspective and grow from that.

Satan is author of confusion, not the Holy Spirit. He loves to confuse the word in people's minds.

That's what leads to all the confusion is self interpretation and over 3,500 denominations in Christianity. Jesus did not form a religion, He formed a church and placed it in the hands of Peter and until the 1500's that was the only church. God Bless, oh and EXCELLENT QUESTION
