Charles Darwin has done more for mankind than a hundred Jewish Messiahs could ever hope to.

OK, religious Messiahs.

I only stated Jewish because of the whole "King of the Jews" thing.

Lewis Black forgives me.

DISAGREE. Jesus gave us a future, a hope, a life, love. Darwin has decieved so many and is sending people the wrong way.

What has Charles Darwin done for mankind - Given us a theory to ponder? Darwin didn't say that Evolution wasn't created by God.

Jesus Christ on the other hand is the most influential being on Western Culture and responsible for many of the civil rights (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness) that we enjoy today.

P.S. -Darwin was Christian.

Mmmmm, tough one. Darwin brought us an incredibly important idea to further our understanding of the origins of complex life, so scientifically speaking Darwin takes the cake. Still, I'm not altogether ready to discount the positive things that Jesus did for the general "goodness" of society. On the other hand, a lot of evil has been and is perpetrated in His name.

I'd give it to Darwin, just because his contributions are unequivocally and powerfully positive.

Yes. (But scrap "Jewish" - it's irrelevant and offensive here.)

"Charles Darwin has done more for mankind than a thousand messiahs could ever hope to."

I think that will ultimately prove true only if humanity ever grows out of the Biblical literalism his science and courage helped undermine. I still think Jesus the social revolutionary could be redeemed and his historical place rescued from those who deified him, though it is a long way off.

And it's really a scream to read the literalists tell you to move to mythology. We wouldn't have a single effective anit-biotic today if not for the principles of adaptation he expounded, and every one of these Christian ingrates is alive today instead of dead of an ear infection or some other disease for which we have cures because Darwin brought biology out of the Christian enforced Dark Ages.

Sorry don't agree. Besides...there is only one Messiah and right now Charles Darwin sits in awe with what the Messiah has done.

true...

we will always be thankful to him

but he's only human created by "one of the hundred messiahs" you say

he was given the knowledge and talent. the messiah your telling is not destined to research and discover. he gave that to man. what he did was what no human being can do.

if YOU can suffer and die on the cross televised by media then for sure you'd be the MOST FAMOUS HUMAN on earth. wont yo like that?

Disagree ......

Not on the contribution part, but in Jew's book there can only be one Messiah, and that Messiah wasn't here yet (Christians think it is Jesus Christ, but the Jews thinks otherwise).

I would agree if it were true about Darwin. Saving the world only took one Messiah though.

When Darwin physically rises from the dead; then let's talk about it.
