The way I see it, you are either a total idiot or you are in on the scam.

Most Scientology members are not celebrities!

Ha ha! I knew I could get a scientologist to respond with a bunch of propaganda (see extra long response) Scientology is a cult. Members are either foolish enough to buy into the nonsense or are in on the scam.

Thanks for proving my point that scientology is a creepy cult by responding with your overly long ridiculous answer. I won't respond to all of your points, but I'm gonna have to call you out on the god and scientology thing. I'm sure that you are aware of a well-known recording of Hubbard giving a speech where he clearly says that the whole Jesus thing was untrue. His explanation involves some story about the aliens and galactic forces and Xenu and all that. I don't think this is compatible with Christianity, as the "church" asserts. In any case, I hope that you read this and take a step back and look at what you are doing with your life!

And pictures in your mind composed of energy...????? Madness. What scientific data supports this nonsense!?! This science fiction writer came up with this stuff out his butt! He was a SCIENCE FICTION WRITER! How can you base your life around the beliefs of one man who was a criminal on just about every level?

Tom Cruise

And like PT Barnum said; "There's a sucker born every minute."

Scientology was invented by a Science Fiction author, Ron L. Hubbard to use in a story. Unfortunately he died and some fool took his work and turned it into a religion. If Ron L. Hubbard had lived longer he might have told those people just how foolish they were. His church was a story element, not a real means of worship.

Scientology is based on the idea that we are all descended from people left behind by UFOs. The church uses some electrical devices similar to a polygraph to determine the state of your soul or Thetan, this process is called an audit and it is required before a person can advance in the religion.

Most self respecting science fiction authors laugh at the idea of UFOs and I am sure Mr. Hubbard would be one among them. The fact that his idea for a story got turned into a religion is one of extreme amusement and only proves how foolish some people can be, especially "those religious folk" who have the one and only "good book" that can save your soul, give you an afterlife, and promise you a place in heaven. Provided of course you do exactly what their church says and it almost always includes donations of money.

People who are desperate and miserable, that's who. I know you don't particularly like long responses, but this is my "big list of reasons why Scientology should be avoided":

• Operation Snow White – Under this program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, & theft of documents in government offices. This program constituted the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history. Among the 11 prominent Scientologists convicted of this conspiracy was Mary Sue Hubbard, the wife of Scientology’s “prophet”.

• Operation Freakout - Their campaign of sabotage & violence against Paulette Cooper, the writer who published her research & findings on several cults, including Scientology. Scientology’s official plan: to frame Paulette, ruin her career & reputation & get her either incarcerated or locked up in psychiatric confinement.
The official plan: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Krasel/cooper/frk1.html

• Fair Game - the Scientology policy detailing how the organization may confront & handle critics & perceived enemies. Here is a direct quote: "Enemies may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.”

• Physical and psychological maltreatment: Scientologists who "break the rules" while members of the "Sea Org" must subject themselves to the Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF), which includes regimes of harsh physical punishment, forced self-confessions, social isolation, hard labor and intensive ideological indoctrination.

• Violent Kidnapping - Lisa McPherson was a Scientologist, was involved in a car accident & resultantly became mentally unstable. She was kidnapped from the hospital by agents of Scientology, held against her will, refused proper psychiatric treatment & allowed to STARVE TO DEATH.

• Tragic Murder - A CBS “48 Hours” special on Jeremy Perkins, the mentally disturbed son of Scientologist parents who refused to put him on the anti-psychotic drugs that would have stabilized him & prevented him from killing his own mother.

What difference does it make to you if someone chooses
Scientology ?

It must be a very slow night for the trolls. Can't you come up with something a bit better than labling hundreds of thousands of people "foolish". Why restrain yourself.

Scientology is a well oiled money making machine; they have their sales pitch down to a science, so to speak. If you don't know what they are or what they do, it's not that hard to get sucked in; not that much harder, in fact, than "mainstream" religions.
