And if so, why do some Christians believe that it's ok to ignore parts of the Bible that are not convenient to them?

The answer to your first question is no.

It also presupposes the existence of God. First prove to me that God exists, then try and prove he wrote the Bible. I can't prove God doesn't exist, but I can show that whoever wrote the Bible was confused, fallible, evil, jealous, vindictive, contradictory, historically erroneous, and illogical. Those are all human traits. If that is the best evidence Christians have for God, it's pretty sad.

The answer to your second question is that Christians have always ignored the parts of the Bible that are inconvenient or go against their own moral sense. Which parts are ignored have changed over the years of course, depending on changing cultural mores and practices.

The only "evidence" that the Bible is the word of God, is because the Bible says it is. How do we know that the Bible is true? Because it is the word of God. How do we know it is the word of God? Because the Bible says it is. You see the problem? If you do, then you are one step ahead of 90% of Christians.

The Bible is the word of God, however, some churches have their own set of rules that over the centuries have become " Like the Bible". Does anyone know that " Special dispensation of the Pope" can still be purchased? Who started that crap. I believe Christ kicked all the money changers and sellers of sacrificial animals out of the temple for that reason. I don't believe any one Church has the right idea about God let alone the Holy trinity. ( I will now get off my soapbox now)

As Muslims, we believe that Bible WAS the word of God until people like Paul edited the bible in his own preferences. We believe that some part of the bible is correct, though.

Yes, the Bible is the living word of the Almighty God! The problem comes in when all of us read His word and interpret it differently. It is not OK to ignore parts of the Bible! One must study and ask the Lord to enlighten you in order to understand it in the way He meant it to be understood! There will always be debate about some things though, until the Lord comes and settles the debate once and for all! To add to it or twist it is beyond horrible and I believe we will have to account for this!

Yes the Bible is the word of God, I try not to ignore any of it, some people do what you say, some are not Christian but say they are, some have become lost in their own self righteousness, some only know how to chapter and verse you to death, some really are children of God.

The Bible is the word of God. some Christians ignore parts of the Bible because they dont want to believe its true for their own desires....and because it doesnt fit their lifestyle. God says in the Bible, do not add things to the Bible, nor take away from it. and what God means is...do not add things to the Bible just to make it sound, 'simpler' or more 'logical' and dont take away from it because u dont like it....or because u want to deny and u dont want to believe it because it doesnt fit in with ur life.

Because we are all sinners!
Because not all parts of the Bible concern our situation.
Because some parts of the Bible are parables and others are commands, we can't apply them as though they were identical!
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

No, The bible is the word of Man. A man wrote the bible, and it can't be said its the word of god. The book has alot of wise teachings but it can't be followed 100%, but thats my opinion. To live a good life i think all you need to do is to do what is
right, help others when you can, and don't get greedy.

No one knows for sure about that .. there have been many testaments written and translated .. but the translations could have been mis understood ..
people are people and they only do what suits them at the time , its not OK to ignore it and they shall eventually pay for it ...
The design of the Bible itself is a miracle. Written over more than 1,500 years by vastly different writers, yet every book in the Bible is consistent in its message. These 66 books talk about history, prophecy, poetry, and theology. Despite their complexity, differences in writing styles and vast time periods, the books of the Bible agree miraculously well in theme, facts and cross-referencing. No human beings could have planned such an intricate combination of books over a 1,500-year time span. The Bible itself tells us that it is God who is the author of His book.

so you tell me ....
