My fiance and I are going to dance our first dance as Husband and Wife to "This I swear " by Nick Lachey. After the second verse is finsished we want the DJ to play like 10 seconds of scrambled music (like he messed up the song, but really its all an act), then cut in with "The way you make me feel" by Michael Jackson, then we will dance a rehersed dance. We think this will be a really cool idea to get the guests in party mode. Do you think thsi is a good idea?

The rehersed dance would be "The way you make me feel" , there would not be 3 dances - just "This I swear" and "The ay you make me feel".

This I swear, The way you make me feel, THEN a rehearsed dance is really a lot to do and a lot for the guests to sit around and watch as you dance to 3 songs. If you are going straight from your first dance into party mode, you must be skipping the father/daughter and mother/son right?

Also a rehearsed dance isn't really doing to get them into "party mode" I mean it's a rehearsed thing. I think you pick one of those as your first dance (the rehearsed one) and play the other choices as your slow dances somewhere in the reception.

If you want to get the guests into party mode I recommend playing something that demands they get on the dance floor. I played a swing song since most of my bridesmaids and groomsmen knew how to swing. Then the parents joined in and couple of my friends. By the end of the song about 10 couples were on the floor and everyone knew to join in. Or a fast paced oldies song--something universally liked by both old and young like Rockin Robin or The Twist.

If they are all sitting around watching you guys dance song after song, no one is going to know when it is there turn to start dancing unless you play something obvious like the Electric Slide.

Well...no, I don't think this is a good idea for a couple of reasons. (1) Guests will not realize that you planned this. They'll still think that the DJ just goofed, even after you start the rehearsed dance. They'll think the rehearsed dance was supposed to come later. They'll whisper words of pity about it all night long. (2) There's no point in getting guests in party mode during the first dance, since there are other planned dances that come after it, like the father/daughter dance. You'll get them in party mode, then they won't be able to party yet. (3) You'll ruin your memories of your special song.

You can still do this rehearsed dance, but I think you should make sure that it's a separate song. Either the first party dance song, or maybe even halfway through the dancing. It will still look awesome, but won't detract from the specialness of the first dance.

I did a tap dance to the Jackson song once, its a very fun song to dance to.

I think its a great and very fun idea. However 10 seconds is actually a long time of scrambled music I think 5 would be better.

That's definitely something original! It's up to you in the end anyways, whether you want a traditional dance or something fun like this idea. Personally, I think it sounds like fun and a good way to get your guests going, but I think some old-fashioned guests won't understand. Either way, congratulations and best wishes with your marriage!! :)

I enjoyed: Boogie shoes, EWF, KC & the easy Band, and so on. Any disco gets the team going. additionally solid sluggish songs on your first dance are: Atlantic celebrity-constantly (oldie yet goody) Stand via me-BB King finally-Etta James incredibly, i think of you will pay attention to the words (ex kind in wedding ceremony songs) and notice what suits you ideal. desire this facilitates:) solid success with the making plans!

It could be but you should do it moderately. If you think you have conservative guest, try to modify it in a way that they may not say something behind your back afterwards. Afterall this occassion is very important to you as well as to your guest.

sounds really cute & if your friends & family know that you & your hubby have a playful attitude then they will get it & if they don't who really cares it's supposed to be what you 2 want to do on that day. A wedding is supposed to be fun & happy not uptight & stuffy

I wouldn't be too thrilled if I witnessed a bride and groom doing this. They aren't supposed to be the entertainment. As for choreographed dances...are you in high school or something? Have your nice slow dance and leave it at that.
