it is good choice. that you have given her milk of magnesia.. but you have to wait for atelast 4-5 hours to get resolved.
drink a lot of fluids. avoid fatty foods and coffee, try some fiber diets like raw carrots, apples etc. it should get better.
if not then take dulcolex and works no matter what.
if it is chronic problem then she/he should consult doctor to rule out any problem in colon.

Senna S is the best to use. It is over the counter. Take 1 tab in the morning and 1 in the evening. Repeat the next day if needed. Also make sure she is drinking enough water daily. At least 6-8 glasses. If that doesn't work and if she is experiencing pain she needs to see a doctor, there may be an obstruction.

Tell her to drink massive amounts of water (glass after glass after glass, consistently as much as she can). Eating fruit and veg and things high in fibre also keeps the system running - plenty of roughage keeps the bowels moving regularly - BUT if she is severely constipated already this wont help! Fruit/veg etc. will simply sit on top of everything else and ferment. Her system needs to be flushed out, and if wtare doesn't help and it is that bad i would definitely recommend stool softeners or laxatives. It's an emergency situation!

ps. Linseed or flaxseed sprinkled in breakfast cereal or even put in your drinking water helps keep you regular also.

Sometimes fiber, fluids, and laxatives just do not work. I have had the same problem and I would suggest that she see her doctor. Mine prescribed Polyethylene Glycol and it works wonders. Good luck.

please have her see a physcian (if this happens alot). their could be something serious going on with her. constipation is nothin to joke with. when my son was little we used Karo Syrup (i think it was a teaspoon or tablespoon a day or so ( unsure?) and it really worked!!!!
