Can't they put make-up, eye-liner, blush, mascara or something on them. Or can they make the lighting better?

They won't due to budget constraints, but here are some tips for the would-be criminal glamour girl:

1. Before leaving your house, make sure you use waterproof mascara. If you are arrested frequently, style your hair in a manner that is not easily mussed. A short "bed head" look is always sexy and hard to mess up.
2. Carry lip gloss in your bra for easy access. This way you can get to it even when you're handcuffed.
3. Use your time in the back of the police cruiser to primp for your photo. The windows can be used as makeshift mirrors. If there is condensation on the window, use it as an emergency water supply to freshen up.
4. Upon arrival at the police station, "faint." Then, "wake up" and ask for a cold washcloth. This can be used to blot away any smudges that may have occurred during your arrest and can act as a cool compress for emergency eye de-puffing.

I like your name. Sexteen. It makes me think of a teenager who wants to have a lot of sex. I hope you're really a girl. (Just messing with you).

However, I think you're biassed here. Have you seen every mug shot? There have got to be some good ones out there.

Anyway, the point isn't to pretty up the pictures, it's just to show you as you are at the time of arrest.

Lighting? These are police officers. Unless we're talking Japan or somewhere where the majority of people are conscientious human beings, then these people are little more than thugs who just happen to be on the "good" side. They're not much different from the people they catch. So, no, they're not going to be very smart at lighting for photographs.

well usually when you have your mug shot your not in a "happy place" you've usually been caught doing something your not suppossed to be doing. And then your usually mad at being caught. You might be drunk and no matter what the songs say..the girls don't always get prettier at closing time.Plus whoever is taking the picture are usually not in the best mood also..So most likely its just a sorry place to be.

Mug shots never look pretty, because crime makes people ugly.

Now, here's what I wanna know. How come driver's license photos always look like mug shots?

Mug shots are just that...a simple and plain photo of the individual's face. It's not a Glamore shot!

Here many mugshots are taken in the morning after the person has spent the night sleeping on a concrete bench in a cell. Chances are you won't look your best after that.

The picture just needs to identify the person not make them look like a super model.

I think all jails should start having a makeup person, because those things aint pretty. At least license pics have improved with digital cameras, but passport ones are still pretty brutal.

Having a makeup artist, and hair stylist available in jail, while you are being processed after an arrest, is not one of their rights.
