I don't think we should stop killing animals for food. Animals are good eating. Animal flesh is a rich source of protein, minerals, and are an important part of an omnivore's diet.

Other omnivores eat animals. Those who don't often suffer from anemia and other debilitating deficiencies.

Reducing the number of livestock may have to happen because of rising populations. We could drastically increase the earth productivity if we eat plants instead of things higher on the food chain. We can culture the required protein inexpensively in the lab now so the livestock is technically not required for healthy human life.

hunting today with the diminishing Nature and increasing populations ,is a parasitic existence and this is made worse by the bibles attitude ,whose shallow philosify states that to teach a man to fish is better that to give him one,

a far better concept is to teach a man to produce fish.

hunters are becoming extinct along side their prey.

if one produces an animal one has the right to eat it ,
like chickens,or cows ,or pigs whatever ,
if you create iguanas ,and release them into nature and then go out an hunt them ,OK.

the same aplies to anything, Deer, faisants, partridge ,wild boar etc.

if you just go out to hunt or fish and do nothing about the creation of what you kill ,then you are part of the problem ,that is partly reponsible for the extinction or depletion of many species.

Nature has been around for billions of years ,with finely tuned eco systems ,the animals are components of that .mess with the balance and the results may be drastic

the animals are components of Eco systems and each plays it part ,(however obscure it may seem to you)in maintaining balanced and healthy Eco systems as preditors to control other species

eg.kill all the birds or raccoons or snakes and their food is free to walk around and reproduce unchecked
and plagues of caterpillers or rats ,that destroy crops has been the result .

or/and as links in the food chain
e.g
they once sprayed for mosquitos on the banks of the Danube and all of the life in the woods disapeared ,they were an important part of the food chain

if you produce it ,by all means go and eat it if you dont it is not yours to steal for it belongs to nature

the Christian God was lying when he said that natures animals were his gifts to the believers
it was not his to give away he was an exstraterestrial ,an Alien, most likely illegal to boot.

,Nature belongs to Gaia

I agree with the above answer. We are creatures naturally suited to eat both plants and animals, like many other creatures in nature do. Don't fight it.

Yes, cap10, but why stop there? We could manufacture all our nutrition in a lab, and stop killing plants, too.
