I'm like the only Asian guy there, and most everyone there is bigger than I am.

I feel so self-conscious and I thought about not going several times, but I kept my head straight and continue going.

Do you guys have any advice for me to ease up on my self-consciousness?

Thanks!!!

**** everyone else..who cares, a gym shouldn't be a place of self image or a place to show off. Plus, everyone has to start from somewhere, don't forget that. You shoulnd't have to prove yourself to anyone, just focus on yourself and as long as you know you are increasing your strength, you should feel positively about that.

Just remember you are not the only one who feels this way, everyone is self-conscious about something. You just happen to be a small guy in a gym full of bigger guys - meaning you think you stick out and everyone is watching you, wondering what you are doing there.

My advice is just relax. Maybe try working out with a friend - having someone there you know will help take your mind off it. Or, try talking to some of the other guys - this happens a lot at the gym I go to, most people are really nice and willing to socialize.

Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in, and that you feel comfortable with the way you look in. Get an ipod or something so you're not distracted by sounds around you, it will help you stay focused. Remember that people go to the gym to improve, not because they're already sexy. You're already taking step 1 by going. Focus on your workouts and work hard. If you can get a buddy to workout with you, that will help too. Someone to help you stay focused, work hard and remember that you're there to improve your health/body. Good luck.

Keep in mind that mostly everyone at the gym feels the same way you do---we're all self-conscious about something.
Focus on how great you're going to feel and look and just keep going. We all have to start somewhere....

Just remember, everyone is there focused on themselves and their own workout and likely not sizing you up...keep working out, and you'll feel confident in no time. :)
