It's Jesus.
Clues: He was in the world. (The Incarnation - that's what St. John's prologue is all about!)
The world was made by Him (see St. Paul's Epistles**)
He came unto His own (the Jews) and His own received him not...
And...he gave power to be come the sons of God - "even to those who believe on His Name."
It's really pretty obvious in context.

The light should be in you now because should be walking in the power of the Holy Spirit to witness to people everywhere bearing fruits of rightousness. And desiring to see others come to Christ by living for Him.Don't just say you believe in God and act like the world and do what everyone else does.Be different even if they call you a Jesus freak. Always tell about the goodness of God.

The true light is Jesus Christ. Since Jesus ascended into Heaven, Jesus told the diciples to go out and be the light in this darkened world. It is also our (christian's) commission to do so. Without Jesus in your life (thru the Holy Spirit that indwells christians who believe), there is darkness in that person. In darkness, that person cannot see the true light, cannot understand the true light and is lost forever. We must ask the true light (Jesus) to come into our hearts and be our light in the darkness. Understand? God bless.

Believing in God, there's a controversy of causation, believing that each little thing has a reason, you - your parents, my computing gadget - DELL and abode windows XP. Now in case you circulate lower back 15 billion years in the past something could desire to've created the Universe so large that it did not desire a reason to come again into being, it strengthen into God. As for Jesus Christ, properly, yeah. **************************************..... *

Revelation 22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
God bless you!

Apsu.
But since everything is a part of 'God' and vice versa, you could just say God.
