Well, the foods you eat really depend on what type of diet you're on. But, i'll give you some tips back when i was dieting:
1. I've learned to not eat that much when it's dinnertime (or anytime after that). It helps to eat smaller portions especially at night because you are going to go to sleep soon enough, so, eat enough so that it has enough time to digest and out of your system before bedtime.
2. Not too much grains. Grains are very healthy indeed, but too much isn't good. So try to not eat as much grain and a little more on your fruits and veggies.
3. 3 servings of dairy! I first saw this tip on a milk commercial and i didn't really believe it at first. It was when I tried it out and it did help me lose some pounds. So, have your 3 servings of dairy each day :)
4. Basically, just eat foods that digest fast and easily. It's healthier and it won't be such an impact on your weight.
5. Though, keep in mind that overloading with fruits&veggies isn't good either.
Hope those helped ^^
