Financial Assistance and Other Resources for People With Cancer: Cancer imposes heavy economic burdens on both patients and their families. For many people, a portion of medical expenses is paid by their health insurance plan. For individuals who do not have health insurance or who need financial assistance to cover health care costs, resources are available, including Government-sponsored programs and services supported by nonprofit organizations. Cancer patients and their families should discuss any concerns they may have about health care costs with their physician, medical social worker, or the business office of their hospital or clinic.

The level of ignorance here is astounding. The pre-existing condition rules are to prevent people from waiting until they get cancer to buy insurance, then expect huge pay-outs without ever having paid a premium. If you have been continually covered, your pre-existing conditions are covered. There are so many steps that can be taken before we resort to government controlled health care, but liberals would prefer to sit back and let a nanny state care for them. Name one government agency that runs efficiently, and at a lower cost than an equivalent private agency. It can't be done. Here is just a partial list of reforms that would help cover more people than anything the government has yet put forth: Stop the hemorrhage of money that is currently caused by medicare/medicaid fraud, allow insurance companies to sell policies across state lines (has anyone heard of competition?), tort reform/limiting frivolous law suits, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY(why should a smoking, obese, drug addicted prostitute be covered the same as someone who takes care of their health and personal life?) How about a little common sense?

If you had insurance in the past without problems and there was no gaps in that coverage show the other plans the certificate of coverage showing that there was no gaps in coverage.

As for whether or not there is an insurance company there in your State that will cover you I can't say but I would recommend checking with your city's health dept to see if they offer a free clinic or check to see if there is a Medical School close by that can help if your city's health dept can't be of help.

Oh sweetie, good luck.
I read a recent article in the LA Times about how insurance companies were (illegally) dropping people off their insurance rolls because they were "too sick" or were "high utilizers" of services, etc. See the LA Times website health section, it might still be there.
I don't know what to tell you.

You can try Kaiser Permanente, or E Health Care, on the internet, and see what is out there. I would say nothing about your condition, and try to get enrolled first. I am over 50, and I have Kaiser, and well, it is better than nothing, and I enrolled on the internet, with E Healthcare. My premiums are $234/month. good luck.............
