A non-extremist Muslim is a mythical creature like the unicorn and Santa.

The other 99% of Muslims that dont participate in the 1% of Muslims who peform the insurgent and insurrectionist activites that is covered by 99% of the press. Lopsided dont you think? Calling all Muslims all extremists would be like saying that all Christians in America are part of the KKK. The Muslim religion actually advocates peace, good will towards all people and humlity before God. Its is certain people who twist the words of the Koran towards personal destructive goals and convince others to do the same who are the extremists and most dangerous. All religions are susceptible to this sort of "perversion", it just happens right now the Islamic religion has been getting all the press for obvious reasons. Hope that helps and no, I'm not Muslim so im no expert.

An extremist of any religion manipulates beliefs to their own end, often (but not exclusively), this will result in a negative idea. The Muslim extremism is a good example of this, but Islam is not the only religion in which this sort of behaviour occurs. In the United States, there are a number of extremist Christian groups who are just as bad, if not worse, than the Muslims I am referring to. It should always be remembered that extremists exist in every religion and only make up a small number of any religion.

Anyway, to answer your question, a non-extremist Muslim would be a Muslim who simply practices their religion without taking every, or a selection of, beliefs to the extreme. If you'd like to know more about the Islamic traditions, visit the wikipedia page on Islam:

Well,it isn't the brightest question I've ever heard. There are extremist versions of anything, from politics to religion and all points between. Just ask yourself: do I know what moderation is? Do I know what extremism is? Yeah - well, that's the difference. As for Muslims, haven't you ever known one? Never went to college with one? None in your community? What do they do,ordinary Muslims? Any car-bombings at your college? Anybody fly a stolen plane into your county courthouse? Do you know what a fanatic is? Are you a fanatic,or are you a non-fanatic? Yeah - well, that's what ordinary Muslims are. You know? Non-fanatic? "Non-extremist" as in...not extremist?

im a non-extremist muslim. i smiled to everybody potential to return my smile. i said hi to that old lady of different race this morning. i said salam to my friends. i kissed my mom before i left my house every morning. i tried to pray on time five times a day so i could get on with my routine and chores. i waved to my neighbours when im outside sweeping off the leaves. i have a habit of reading a magazine backwards. i'd like to let pedestrians go off first when im driving, which is not something drivers in my country do.

that could be an example of a non-extremist muslim.
salam...

That is sort of like a Nazi asking what are good Jews, implying that by being Jews, they are somehow evil.

All the hatred against Muslims originates from our politicians, and their lackeys in mainstream media. The typical Muslim, like the typical Christian or Jew has no desire to perform violent acts.

Well, we can start with me...

Today is my birthday and I am now 21 years old. I am currently studying abroad in Germany, but I was born and raised in America.
In fact, I am Native American (and other things) so I can claim that my ancestors were here (America) first.
I am getting a degree in German Studies/International Affairs and a minor in archaeology.
After I graduate then I will go to graduate school and continue my education. I would like my career to be able to work in a humanitarian aid organization preferably UNICEF.

Now, did you read anything about hating people or wanting to kill somebody? I just gave you the bare minimum of my life and I didn't even include my faith.
Now picture 1.2 billion people like me and you will have your answer.

Nowhere does the Holy Quran advise violence. Quran in problem-free words enables retaliation that too prefers forgiveness to retaliation. you've misinterpreted the Holy Quran. a real Muslim might want to forgive. so a ways as Jihad is worried a real Muslim might want to salary Jihad adversarial to the unseen enemies of Islam it extremely is lack of data, Illeteracy, Backwardness, incorrect information and so on. and so on. As of in the present day those are the worst enemies of Islam.

A Muslim who doesn't believe in the spreading of Islam through violence, and doesn't follow a traditionalist and literalist interpretation of the Koran. Basically, almost all of them.
