No a pedometer will not measure anything useful whilst you are on a stationary bike. What you should consider is buying a "speedometer"(made for the job) for your contraption(if possible).

they should work as long as they are attached to your hip or hooked on your pants, because as you move the pedometer moves, counting your steps. im not sure if thats what you're asking, but hopefully i helped

It is calibrated for walking/running not riding a bike.

you could get the cat eye velo-5 computer and it will measure ur speed, distance, time and such. or spend a little more and get the one with the calorie counter.
